olypiakos game effort level made it clear there was something so to my mind it'd be real nice (especially after looking after him through numerous injuries) that everyone hugs and a true legend is welcomed back to anfield to sit with alonsos at games during christmas break... mascherano's greatest error was not leaving on good terms. He stayed a year longer and STILL managed to leave on bad terms.
True but I think most of us would forgive and forget if he wanted to come back to us this summer, unlike **** face Torres, not that we want him anyway at any price.

probably as i think most knew he wanted to go and did give the extra year. the talk in the press courting them was the issue. If he came back sure nobody would give him abuse but then again had owen had have come back after real... maybe he'd be forgiven too... hell if he just didn't join the mancs he could be like mcmanaman now... torres would not be forgiven ever...

Eh? He was your best CB in the season prior to the last one, and he played in 35 leagues games. He played in over half of them last season as well. I don't get how you lot are eager to re-write history over Agger, this time last year you were desperate for him to stay when Barca were sniffing round. Odd.
I would agree than that seaosn sketl was poro and agger played more and was best. after all carragher was poor too BUt we finished 7th. As a whole package the aim is to win things and finish hihgr. He is also aging and we manage his injuries.. .a lot, particulalry his back. So we've bought two youngish but experienced CBS to play and the aim is to be better. its not rewrting history.. its writing for TODAY as today we've lovern, skertl back to form (in the prem) and sahko (played good in WC) and we've got a few young players too. Last year we didn't have either sahko or lovern in so its a different question. we've got good players and letting him go will be good for everyone. The only questino now is who will be vice captain and get the nod to be captain when gerrard is "resting"
Shame as always liked Agger but he does have his faults. Was obvious one of him or Skrtel would be going given how much we've spent on cbs the last two years. He'll prob get into Barcas team as they have no other defenders.
My overriding memory of him in recent years is he hasn't done it. He's not nailed down his place. Just simply we've had nobody better. Until last year when Skirts stood up and essentially has now got the nod over Agger. About 4 years ago he was very good, but that a long time ago now.
Given that Suarez is gone and Lucas is likely to see reduced time (if not sold) we will see new future captain emerge this season. Hendo maybe? I think if Lovren is still with us in a few years he will probably be shoe-in.
I genuinely think that the season before last when he finally had an injury free season he got a little bit found out and maybe wasn't quite the great defender we thought he was. Maybe the injuries had taken their toll. Either way, love the guy and wish him all the best with Barca.
