translate the rodgerisms.

skertl is a dirt passer and a clogger but this sytem allows him to do that.

pity brendan its in no way stemming the flood of goals though eh????

Eight goals isn't great, but it's hardly a flood,imo.
Arsenal, Everton, Utd and City have all conceded more.

I think the problem is more the system, meaning the midfield aren't protecting the defence enough, rather than individual performances of the likes of Skrtel.
I don't see that swapping him for Agger is necessarily going to plug that gap. I agree with those that dislike the current system and hope we change it as soon as possible.

So anyway Saint that was all I was saying <ok> Sorry if I come over arsey didnt mean it that way

I dont think he will leave btw, Skrtel will be out before him I reckon

Didn't think that at all, mate. We're here to debate things.
I just think that the media are constantly out to cause a sensation and will say anything to get the maximum reaction, including selective quoting and editing and so I get a bit narky when we jump on players because of something we've read. I always try to wait and see what happens before making a judgement.
No harm in discussing things though.

FFS <doh>

Im saying why couldnt he say "Im not leaving, im going to fight for my place"

He's not been starting and as you say Saint "but surely we all have enough experience of lazy hack journalists to stop swallowing everything they write and turning on our players every time something negative appears in the press? "

Do players not know this too?

Thats all im saying

He ****ing did <doh>

Good man <ok>

I think that's a little OTT, MITO.

well lets look at before skertl and after skertl then.

BS before but ASS after as it were

skertls been in the side since the utd game.

we won the utd game 1-0... great 4-3-3

let in 2 v swansea the first being skertl mistake

Lost to southampton 1-0 next.. not great but not exactly his fault.

Lost to utd 1-0 that was enriques fault.

let one in v sunderland

let one in v palace

Let 2 in v newcastle

Let 1 in v west brom from pen.

In short the goals are indeed flowing in at the back so adding a defender in to make it 5 at the back hasn't stemmed them.

'Flowing' is a more appropriate word than 'flooding' <ok>

He (and Skrtel) is part of the last generation and will inevitably be moved on in the next year or two IMO anyway. It will be sad to see him go but it would not be bad as it would have been before the summer <ok>

I really like how Sakho plays on the left side though.

Yeah he's been doing well but he also likes to bully and attack the ball so I think he could easily do the Skrtel job and then that would give us Agger back. I just think that the 3 I mention are the better combination.

More Skrtel criticism? He's been at fault for perhaps one goal this season, but still right up there in terms of blocks, clearances and one on ones. Take him out and play Agger and all that dirty shirt pulling is eliminated meaning more loose forwards attack our defensive set pieces - which we're **** at as it is! You need CBs who are dirty. Don't even start that stupid myth that he can't pass the ball out <doh>. His forward passing is fine and he's comfortable on it too. Sure he doesn't make the 40yard runs forward like Agger or Toure do, but then neither does Sakho. Someone needs to stay back - like Carra did.

I would pick Agger, Skrtel and Toure against Arsenal if we went three at the back. Not because Sakho's played poorly, but just because of the experience of those three and I see Sakho ultimately replacing Agger in that spot.

I hope that wasn't aimed at me since I didn't actually criticise Agger or Skrtel <doh>

We have Sakho <diva>

and Illori, Kelly, Wisdom before you even get to Toure and Skrtel who are there as well. I can see it happening as both Madrid and Barca have been keeping tabs on Hummels.
