Contrary to the belief at the time, everything before punk was not ****; took me a while to realise that.
I only saw Zep (at Knebworth) because my girlfriend at the time got the tickets, but what a live act they were.

True, there were some great bands pre punk. Punk kicked music up the arse though, thank God. Great times, wouldn't swap it for anything.

I think we were the last generation that really thought rock n roll was going to change the world. It didn't, it was just music, but it felt like a revolution at the time (hence the T.Rex song).
Plus, every generation thinks they invented sex n drugs n rock n roll, but ours definitely did it best

Just looked up the riff for that one, looks pretty decent and easy to learn. Was you in a band?
I always guessed you knew your stuff, unlike that pretend guitarist on this board.
I was in a punk band back in the day. If we played some of our songs now, we'd be in jail.
It was my life. I knew I wanted to be a musician since about the age of 10 when my Uncle bought me my first guitar.
In the end it was the financial side that forced me to quit. I had a wife and two young kids and the work was too irregular and unpredictable. Problem was there were no mobile phones back then. If you weren’t around to take the call, then somebody else got the job.
I had some regular work that always used me but in the end it wasn’t enough. I was absolutely gutted when I had to quit. I sold all my equipment and didn’t pick a guitar up for a few years afterwards.
