Brix you have seen my request in post #8. I dont mind carrying on with this, but i will rip someone apart about this subject. Please close as i wish to not have confrontation with anyone involved. Igor is a great poster and has (in my opinion) just made a mistke Thank you
Yeah that and the fact that the biggest /rst ban we have had, came from a white, English northern loving player would make your argument look stupid !!
I'm surprised no one has mentioned a certain Mr Barton when it comes to ill discipline. Cost us more than a few points I seem to remember!
Queenslander, i think you have taken igors post totally out of proportion and made it something that it isn't or never was. You and only you are making an issue here. Let it lay mate.
Yes, Barton's failure was his "off the ball" discipline, as in the case Cissé trying to throttle the perpetrator of a bad tackle, and also Mbia yesterday. Diakite's issue has always been about hard, sometimes mistimed tackling, but happily he really seems to have got a handle on that now.
Queenslander , why almost everything in this modern world seems to be turning a racial matter? I can assure you , that if all those four players were white british players i would have asked about their lack of disciplene as a group. I dont know nothing about those players behaving outside of the pitch and i dont care either. On the pitch however they have made huge mistakes by their behaviour and because of that i was asking for it. They all are probably lot nicer and smarter than Barton but on the pitch they sometimes behave same level as Joey. Sorry if have caused a bit racial row with my thread which was not my original purpose. Maybe im better leave Taarabt out of it and ask about lack of disciplene of some our recently signed players........
Exactly!! Only Queenslander is making it a racist issue by taking offence on behalf of others....a classic PC trait. It's more an observation on the style of football and coaching in the African leagues imo.
It certainly is col. I had to laugh once at a 15 year old who was a great kid but charged around the pitch at 100mph then when faced with the opposition, just stopped and stared at me!
I don't think it is racist as Queenslander is saying but I can see what he is getting at, although to be fair Africa is a continent not a nation so it would be unfair to judge the actions of M'Bia and Cisse on the likes of El Mohamady (Egypt). For every M'Bia you have a Cantona and for every Cisse you have a Roy Keane
I second that, it's a shame that this country these days means u can not make what u believe to be a valid point with out u being accused of being a racist. With the constant referral in this thread of someone being racist only ignites this thread into something it wasn't trying to be and we end up totally off the actual thread subject altogether
To make a sweeping comment about players discipline because they are black or African, whether it meant innocently or not, it is hard not to see it having racial connotations. I understand igor that you may not mean it in such a way, but it is very naive not see how it can be construed that way. Last season, Hill, Derry and Barton x2 were all sent of, albeit derry's was totally unjust, but to then make a sweeping statement about our black players and discount the over sendings off then makes your original post seem more of a racist statement. If you are to argue a point which comes close to the line of racism, it's wise to take everything in to account before making such a sweeping statement, especially in today's age where people who do make racist comments can find themselves in prison a few short days later, John terry not withstanding. A well argued point is a well argued point, but your comments are based purely on their colour, so therefore can be misconstrued. I understand where you are coming from, but as queens points out, it isn't in the most intelligent of ways. If as others have mentioned, you had also asked whether it was colour and temperament, or whether its the pace and style of play in this country, no on would bat an eyelid.
Give your heads a shake. There was no racist comment made nor any insinuation! African footballers don't get taught to tackle, i know that for a fact! Therefore there is no discipline in tackling amongst those who don't know how to!.
I asked the same question to footy mates yesterday. It's not a racist issue unless it is turned into one. Racism only evolve when people feel suppressed and cannot express their opinion in a sensible and courteous way. I see no issue in making an observation that players from Africa or with an immediate African heritage at QPR are showing worse discipline in THE GAME. The stats are not lying.
Wot?! These sensible adult conversations only turn ugly cos of ignorant comments like yours. ****-stirring solves nothing queenslander.
Im what started out as a decent thread has been ruined by queenslander perverse perception of motives for such an article.
Don't really like closing threads but this one is beginning to sail close to the wind. Great attempts to self Mod in this thread. I really don't think that Igors original post was intended to offend anybody but I can see how some may see it that way. Will let this run a bit further for now.
Mbia is an extremely passionate and emotional player, I don't know how many saw his reaction to the penalty against him in the Reading game, but that was a great example.
I'm sorry but Mbia didn't get the red card for mistimed tackle. Neither did Cisse. Only one that did is Diakite for his reckless tackle. But we shouldn't judge a continent for one player only. Michael Essien, Yaya Toure anyone?
