They are 1898 but depending where you are it might not be easy to find a pub that bothers with some of them is all I was saying. A JD Weatherspoons might be the best option and there are plenty of them about.
In order to police the match, what are the odds on the authorities limiting the number of tickets to 25,000 per club? Can't have 40,000 from the Portsmouth area running "riot" with an equal number from Bristol or Plymouth or even Oxford!! You watch, there will be a limit due to availability of police, (they will be on duty for the other play-off finals) and other events taking place in the capital that weekend. Add to that the risk of a terrorist attack and there you have it. An excuse to limit numbers Personally, I think these matches should take place at either the Millennium Stadium (it was very convenient to use it whilst Wembley was being rebuilt but now is ignored), or perhaps the Emirates. Smaller stadium but just as good as Wembley, of that I am sure.
IMO, Wembley is used by the FA to maximise revenue and its "tradition" which now sucks as it is all corporate and expensive.
I will not go near Wembley, even if any of the teams (Saints, Pompey, Bournemouth and Athletic de Bilbao) that I support play there!! I know that is almost unheard of but as I am originally from Fareham, I support all the local teams in the area and want them to do well. And Bilbao, because I live in Spain and like their recruitment policy and their stylish play.
I've been to Wembley so many times, but in my mind, I see it as more an American Football stadium than a football stadium and American Football is the sport I associate it with, as I've been to only two football games there but 7 NFL games (soon to be 10 ).
It's ok Pompeylapras, no need to explain the rules again.........phew!!!! I've been to Wembley twice and both times the old one. First was a 3 against the 6 international friendlywhen we joined the Common Market. Do any of you remember that concept? That's before we became the United States of Europe. The second was the one and only time Argyle went in a play off final. I was so far away from the pitch I needed a telescope. I think it's worth avoiding if you can.
