That's as harsh as you like to dismiss it as A player who is that poor doesn't get moves up and up Sorry but it's balls... It's every excuse under the sun why someone else made him look good and frankly if you said you just don't like him I think itd be more the truth which would be fair of course Sahko is back therefore I expect to see something change shortly but f me toure was awful tonight
He is poor. He went from Lyon to Soton. That's not a move up. Lyon were happy to get rid of him. There's a reason why he got the record number of nominations for being in the worst team of the week in Ligue 1. Toure wasn't great, but Skrtel and Lovren are a couple of clowns in the defence who offer very little.
Lovren had a good season last year. You can't just say that he had a couple of good players in front of him which made him look better. That's like saying Neuer is an average keeper because he plays behind an awesome team. He's a good player but he's clearly having a crisis of confidence. Saints fans always said that he's not a leader and Fonte did the organising etc. It just seems that Rodgers keeps playing him with someone else that can't lead a horse to water in Skrtel. Both of them are reactive defenders and neither of them seem to be able to forsee danger and be proactive to it. That's why players playing with Carragher always looked better because he was so good at organising and telling them where they should be throughout the whole game that all they had to concentrate on was when the ball was near them.
Premiership is a step up from French football and Lyon have fallen from grace compared to 10 years ago. I'd say Southampton is a step up from Lyon no doubt. And even if it wasn't, doesn't make him a bad player? Di Maria went from Madrid to United, a massive step down, still a top class player. Sanchez went from Barca to Arsenal, again still a brilliant player. Suarez went from Liverpool to Barca... you get my drift
Hmmm. He's turning out to be not quite as awful as first thought, and his touch is improving (or coming back if you believe the reports from Portugal). Still think he's two, possibly three levels beneath Coutinho and Lallana. btw, good as sterling was tonight let's not forget he missed his easiest chance. We still need a bloody forward in January to salvage anything from this season. And not bothered about the draw either - people said the same when we played an in form City three seasons ago: Chelsea are the team of the season so far, but they were one incredibly lucky penalty decision (if not two) from dropping points at Anfield last month.
Strange that you pair are seemingly so well acquainted with that kind of scutter juice. My tipple is a nice Cabernet Sauvignon chaps, not that I often indulge on a school night. Peasants
Was impressed by Markovic. Obviously playing a bit deeper than he's used to and his defending wasn't brilliant but looked composed on the ball, happy to run at players and put in a good cross for the first and took his goal really well.
He was still making the same mistakes as he was last season - the issue is that these errors were masked by the two holding midfielders in front of him. I've used Gerrard as the example - he was average last year but people don't remember it because they all remember is the good stuff created by the world class attack. Was I expecting Lovren to be this bad? No. I think he is a better player - but he was never worth £20m and it's a massive waste of money, especially when you have quality CB's like Scharr, Howedes, N'Koulou who are all cheaper and have better ability.
He is a quality player - was always going to take him a little while to get settled because a) he's young and b) new league and culture. Glad the cameo appearances have given him some much needed confidence, but also Rodgers is playing him on the left where it allows him to drift inside. Suits him far better but I wish he was higher up than as a LWB. That position is perfect for Moreno. Sterling is currently ahead of Markovic but I dont think it will be long until Markovic is ahead - I personally believe that Markovic has more potential than Sterling. And we've seen more in Markovic's cameos and this 90 mins than Lallana has done all season. (P.S Lallana was good today)
Hopefully Sakho instead of Lovren. I mean, i can see the logic of wanting to play both Skrtel and Toure but not as a 2, except I think Lovren is completely lost at times in a back 3.
I think so but perhaps a better on is Everton are like a pimple on shakiras perfect backside Everyone is unterested in her backside, the pimple not so much. It's there but who'll notice?
Like the RS have been a tagnut on the arse of Liverpool since we left Anfield , not that you'd know like.
Pleased with Markovic and Lallana. Sakho good when he came on too. Sterling did well but hardly put concerns over his finishing to bed - a good enough centre forward or a top winger would've scored from that Lallana flick. For Arsenal then... --------------------Mig ---------Skrtel---Kolo---Sakho Hendo----Lucas----Can----Moreno -------Lallana------------Coutinho ------------------Sterling Maybe Balo if he's fit, did well vs United and can we trust Raheem to bury his chances any more than him? Feel we need to be solid so I'd put Can in anyway... But Hendo over Manquillo in terms of experience... Conversely.
You have a lad out on loan who is better than both of them, Ibe. I always thought of Sterling as a better SWP, however this season he reminds me too much of he original, started like a train but never improved and ended up going backwards. Marko looks no different than any other young wingere with pace but that could change. Ibe is a different class in my view (at the moment).
This could be a really hard game for you. Arsenal have a defence of sorts and tend not to give the ball to opposition strikers.
Happy enough with that and The Gooners like to play through the middle so I've no problem with 3 at the back.
