Growing speculation that he is one of the 2 keepers that we will have on trial. A fan favourite when he was here but left some what of a sour taste when he left. We still to this day never know the true story of why he left, One was that he had a bust up with Johnson, Another was he thought he was better than the club. The real question is would we want him back? 38 years old now so maybe at best 2 years left in him. Me personally, I wouldn't mind him returning as a back up and if the wages are right, Would be a little disappointed if we're looking at him as a first team keeper but still love the bloke and we haven't had a chant that everyone sang since OHHHHHHH BASSOOOOOO

Thoughts?

Who cares as long as he saved them <laugh>

Also on twitter, Not my words but apparently Gary Woods IS one of the 2 keepers. Don't know how true it is but that's the word on the street, I would love these 2 to come in as our keepers. To have woods and 1st choice and Basso as 2nd would be great IMO

We've fallen to League 1 because we've kept the old guard, and have watched them gradually get worse and worse.

So our next step is, to hire one of the old guard?

I loved Basso, but he made his decision when he wanted out. I'd consider it a very worrying sign if we re-signed him, and I'd be surprised if he were good enough for this level.

As I said at the time I didn't like the way he waited until Chris Weale had left the club to announce he wasn't going to sign a new contract, because he knew that Weale would almost certainly sign a new contract and replace him in goal for that season at the very least.
