Gem of the Norfolk coast. Bar none!
For anyone who believes Durham's stance on Hughton and NCFC is softening, I give you, from today's Daily Fail:-

Chris Hughton’s management of Norwich City hit a new low on Saturday.
His predominantly defensive tactics are well documented.
Losing 7-0 was bad enough, regardless of the opposition. But Hughton decided it was a good idea to bring on a teenager when Norwich were 4-0 down at half time.

Josh Murphy, an FA Youth Cup winner with Norwich last season, has a bright future. But bringing him on to be part of that destruction was in my opinion an appalling piece of management.
It reminded me of West Ham being bottom of the Premier League in 2002, and Glenn Roeder decided to make 21-year-old Joe Cole captain. The Hammers fans are loyal but when it’s going wrong they won’t hold back. With a much-loved academy product as skipper, the Upton Park faithful could not express their true feelings of anger – Joe Cole didn’t deserve to take the blame. So they eased off.
I can’t help thinking these managers put youngsters in the firing line with the sole aim of softening the reaction from the fans.
Indeed at the end of the thrashing at the Etihad the Norwich fans applauded Murphy’s efforts, instead of attacking the manager.

Hughton must have breathed a huge sigh of relief.
Strangely it’s only five weeks since Hughton claimed Murphy wasn’t ready for Premier League action.
'We’ll look after him,' claimed Hughton, after Murphy turned a League Cup tie at Watford.
Well Josh Murphy’s Premier League debut will always be the heaviest defeat Norwich have ever suffered in the Premier League.
Strange way to 'look after' a talented young player.

that man really does produce some ****e. this is one of the worst yet.

we have to play josh murphy because we have no other fit players! would he prefer we bring in some foreign reserve who can play instead or are we being criticised for giving a bright, english talent a chance to play against manchester city where there was no pressure on him because of the score line? absolute drivel to suit an agenda

I see no problem in playing Murphy. There was little pressure and it added a positive aspect to an otherwise dismal day. Murphy himself looked very comfortable and competitive out there, IMO, and it was good experience for him. Durham takes no notice of the injury situation, of course. The man's a plank.

to be honest, i thought he was probably our best player when he came on (wasn't difficult mind)

I'm normally the first to slate Adrian Durham but TBH I can't really disagree with much of that. As for no fit players, just what has Becchio done wrong he hasn't even been given the chance to do anything right FFS <doh>

see, when you break it down, it is very easy to see why becchio is rated as at best, out 4th choice.

van wolfswinkel - full dutch international, prolific goal scorer in the netherlands and portugal, cost £8.5m, age 24
hooper - amassed more than 80 goals in three seasons at celtic, played regularly in the champions league, cost £5.5m, age 25
elmander - over 70 caps and 20 goals for sweden, preferred partner to ibrahimovic, loan, age 32
becchio - averaged a goal every 3 games in league one and the championship for leeds, swap for steve morison, age 29

he'd be most people's fourth choice out of those people. i think he could do a job for us off the bench but i don't get to see him in training.

if durham wanted to pick on norwich over anything from saturday, he should have written about how we appeared to lack effort and how easy we made it for our world class opponents - not how throwing an 18 year old on is damaging him. i'm glad he came on - any game time for our youngsters is good as far as i'm concerned

He's made a success of being an obnoxious idiot. His opinion is no better or worse than any other fans', he simply has the advantage of a soapbox to stand on.
