TBH cant remember anyone saying the first bit and it was Sunderpitt who mentioned team formation but lets not let facts spoil fiction
Oh dear, where was there anger in my post? Where is this rant? Is fiction your way of calling me a liar? All I did was post my view on the matter. The only anger seems to once again be coming from your good self. But then you have previous of ranting at me and telling me to start a poll to get rid of you! Or is that fiction too? You were one of the main instigators in the stupid BIB BOB situation, of which I was neither, just a Sunderland fan giving his views on what he has seen.
So as you can't remember it I'm lying ??????? You seriously need to take a step back and consider what you are posting!
Not all BIBs said that though, some may have but i never did, your post implies that every BIB did, which is wrong.
Sorry Steve that my meaning wasn't clear, so if I removed the "the" from in front of BIB's it would have been fairer. I had no intention of meaning all BIB's. I'm not going to trawl back to find the posts but I do recall the likes of "we aren't Barcelona ffs." To which I and others replied we weren't claiming to be, but were expecting better progress than we were having.
Good......................... Bruce is done and dusted.............unlike a mag trophy cabinet...... Seeing two of the top posters going at loggerheads....no good..
Things were getting a bit heated back then, and a few were more vociferous that others on here. **** happens, we will never all agree with everything, Sport, Politics, Entertainment, Religion, etc etc there will always be people at loggerheads with each other. Debating on the internet is great, arguing the toss (with name calling and lots of profanity) just makes both parties, well look like tossers tbh Its all water under the Bridge for me, yes i was a BIB until the last moment, even though my loyalty was swaying a bit near the end, hes gone we move on, but imho to say he was crap and 10th was lucky (its a marathon not a sprint) is wrong, but meh, i am not bothered anmore tbh lol as for the same formations, the Brighton game, there was world war 3 on here before a ball was even kicked with the formation (I was one of them who couldnt work it out) the fact we got beat just confounded that, MON done it, and not a word was said before kick off, I believe thats what syd is getting at, before a ball was kicked, not after the fact.
Good post and well balanced. I think perhaps the reason why Bruce couldn't do it and Martin O'Neill could do it is because most fans didn't have any faith in Bruce. Why is that? In all likelihood it is probably because Bruce had openly and publically said that he didn't believe in tactics, along with a myriad of other reasons for which I just don't see the point in raising. Enter a game lacking a recognised striker without any tactics? I'm not suprised we were beaten 2-0 by Brighton and nor am I suprised that on the other hand, the same team managed with a clear tactical objective won by the same scoreline against Arsenal. Bruce was a good scout and a poor manager. At the end of the day, there isn't any need to keep dragging up the subject because the people who asked for change were proven to be correct and it is clear for all and sundry to see. Perhaps some people feel asthough certain fans were waiting / are still waiting for any opportunity to criticise Martin O'Neill in order to somehow justify their inability to agree that a change was needed. Far be it for me to speculate why any fan of SAFC would position themselves from that standpoint, but who knows, they may still exist. It's all history now, the fans that asked for change were correct.
Question - How can we still be having discussions like this when it has never been a better time to be a Sunderland fan? There is no right or wrong in this - Everyone of us had an opinion on Steve Bruce and we are all entitled to that. After all thats why we come on here - to discuss our views. Can we please draw a line under this one - Sunderland football club have moved on let us do the same and enjoy what we have now?
Your question proves that there was a right and a wrong choice as we are now reaping the rewards of the correct choice. Ofcourse people are entitled to their opinions even if they are/were wrong, thats what makes a debate!
But who says Bruce wouldnt have won all the games since he was sacked (not saying he would and dont think he would, but we will just never know) This the BIBs were correct is a load of bollocks if you ask me.
You say some were more vociferous than others. The only abuse I saw AND RECEIVED was from BIB's attacking BOB's. I shall repeat this too, for anyone to find any post by me attacking or name calling a fellow Mackem. (Sometimes under severe provocation as well. ) Will I stand my ground? Of course, but I feel as if I have stood my ground without feeling the need to attack or belittle other posters. The accusations of me being angry usually slung at me by the skunks, not one of our own, make me laugh. I ask them to point me to the said angry posts and there's never a reply. Mainly because I have never made an angry post, it's the internet FFS! With the hoof ball we were playing at the time of the Brighton game, those of us who didn't rate Bruce or his tactics, it was clearly the breaking point. With Bruces tactics to play his way against a lower league team with no strikers was laughable. And was proved right. MON clearly is picking teams tactically to match and better the opposition. Just like when Bruce's roots are brought up, I have never called Bruce names or even mentioned the Geordie word, apart from the fact he is a **** manager.
Well... we won't ever never know if Bruce could of won the next 10 from 15 games as Martin O'Neill achieved. I suspect that in all probability the answer to that hypothetical scenario would be a comprehensive no and that is based upon what we witnessed at the end of last season and the start of this season. Fortunately thats not the reality we embrace today and therefore we really don't need to worry about what might of been as we are seeing the fruits of making the correct choice. One thing we do know for sure is that those who wished for Martin O'Neill to come in as the boss are licking their chops with anticipation every single day! Another hint as to the truth is the overwhleming positive feeling that most fans are now openly displaying upon public forums and at the match. What a way to live life as a fan of SAFC!
I would dare to bet that if things went tits up for a while under MON, it would be the same people who first called for Bruce's head doing the same to MON; and those that were willing to still back the team/club/management under Bruce when things went bad, would be the ones doing the same under MON.
I undertsand that all managers will have good patches and bad patches. I would be prepaired to offer Martin O'Neill much longer to achieve success than I would Steve Bruce. Why? Martin O'Neill is a manger with a proven track record and Steve Bruce is merely a manager with experience and unproven where the trophy cabinet is concerned. The fundamental difference here commands great respect. Ofcourse I'm sure there are some younger fans who would scream MON out but nowhere near as many as the number of fans who screamed Bruce out. That's just my opinion ofcourse.
Well I'm sure many will call me for it but this is really getting me down so a few days away from not606 for me, its been a really good weekend so far and I find this is just tarnishing the whole thing.
Well I havn't been around here for long so I don't know the history but I thought the original poster was being light-hearted. It looks asthough things are becoming a little petty for whatever reason but it's no big deal its just a football forum.
