Very sensible as usual. It means that it gets everyone pointing in the same direction at the earliest time, and that Adkins can bring in players that he doesn't necessarily have experience with, but are carefully chosen to follow the Southampton FC way. When I said many times this season how I'd never felt so positive about the club as right then and there, well now I feel that positive about the club, I'm practically bursting with it. To quote an old line; right here, right now, I can say I've never felt so positive about the club as I do at this moment. I'm in danger of suffering from positivism overdose if it gets any more.
It didn't work too well for the smaller teams like Wycombe or Crewe who have productive youth systems on tighter budgets and could draft in youth players when they needed extra depth. Still, 7 subs next year. It's possible too that we'll have some dead rubber games at the end of the season to try things out. They will be announcing the next year's scholars soon. Anyone got any juicy info?
Sam Gallagher. Matt Target. Two I recall off the top of my head, although I know about 4 that have played for U18s/U21s already
I have always been proud to be a Saints supporter even in the dark times, but now I'm fit to burst. Everything about this club is going in the right direction. I know that next year the target will be a decent season of consolidation and gaining experience, but I now harbour secret dreams that in the future we will be a seriously successful club(something I have never dared dream before).
