Crazy decision. Adkins was doing a fantastic job all things considered. He did all the dirty work in getting two consecutive promotions and this is how they reward him and the fans. Maybe they had a very good reason to sack him. Like shagging the bosses daughter or fighting with one of the players. If not it seems a very strange decision based on results alone.
This has been going around for a bit. Ithought if they were going to 'get rid' it should have been around the Hughes time but of late they have picked up and confidence was good. For me they should have kept Adkins until the end of the season then bring in other guy. They may have shot themselves in the foot?
Appleton left Blackpool for Blackburn because he thought it was a better bet - I don't see how leaving Southampton for Blackpool makes any sense?
Absolutely crazy decision by the Saints, if they wanted to go in a different direction with their style of play, fine, but do it at the end of the season. Why sack a man that has brought them successive promotions and got them playing well in the Premiership. He can't speak English, knows nothing about English football or the Premiership, he'll try and get them playing pretty football and they will struggle big time. Big, big mistake by their board but very good news for us and the others down the wrong end of the table.
