Early signings are great if you can get them but as has been said they tend to be costly. Having the new guys with the team for all the endurance build up is worth some money. You could see last year our endurance was tops on most occasions. Little doubt that was due to the preseason and all the testing they do. I'd like to see a CB and RM in before the 28th. Backup GK can certainly come later.

Hi Saw the Adkins interview on saints player last night... When asked about new signings, he said he hoped to have 1 or 2 in before the players report back on 28th June. If we do get 2 in that will be 3 before July. Is it me or is there a bit more urgency now, we usually start very slow regarding transfer activity. I have always been a fan of get them in early so they have a complete pre season with us and hit the ground running. NA and NC seem to be trying to get it done and dusted as quickly as possible which is a good thing.

The PL is a big step and so there's lots to do, and nothing will be left to chance, I'm certain. Saints are coming into this season with their eyes wide open [certainly Nigel is, crikey..!]. Relegation is not going to be contemplated and it isn't going to be an issue. But to do that, the squad needs strengthening in key areas, so that when injuries happen we are not short on quality and attitude. Yes, historically, Saints have transferred late, simply because they couldn't afford to get into the market early. Now we can't afford not to. We want the right players. Not the ones left over after everyone else has had their pick.

You didn't ramble. Good post.
