Only Forte is ours. He has found it difficult to break into a successful side, but earned his corn with those 2 goals against MK Dons. I don't know how much promotion is worth, but he definately paid his wages for a year. N'Guessan turned out to be a big I am. I, too, am surprised that Stephens wasn't a done deal, but seems to have been a stop-gap. Bignall...just don't remember anything about him. This will be NA's chance to bring it players he wants, rather than panic buys/loans. Only time will tell.
Actually no I too rate him from the games I saw him play I thought he was quite useful. What is puzzling me is apparently Oldhams response when he went back after the loan spell. Namely that he wasn't going any where and was not for sale? It just did not kind of fit in with all that was happening around especially him being their leading scorer at the time of the loan.
I have my trust in adkins to get some talent that will see us fair well in the championship. I do feel however we will not know alot about these transfers until they are on the official site. That's how the Don works.
I dunno about Stephens... Alright back up i guess, but he's no better than Hammond, Chaplow or Schneiderlin. We need to be looking for someone to replace/compete with Hammond and Stephens doesn't do that.
I had to Wiki Bignall. He made 3 appearances for us on loan from Reading. He's always on loan and is at Brentford now. Must be dying to find a permanent club.
We haven't really needed many permanent signings during Adkins' time so far. Clubs inflate their asking prices in January so its mostly only worth it if its absolutely necessary. Chaplow was an Adkins signing, as was bringing Guly in permanently. I reckon the little that Forte does could be very valuable, as it proved against MK.
there have been some good signings some poor i think adkins will get rid of the poor im sure cortese will keep an eye on any spending plans nigel has and if he is concerned will look for advise. we should trust in the past year and look to a bright future
on the bus is right, primarily Adkins only needed backups to positions. I have full confidence in him. Wonder how much he's ever spent on one transfer...? Guessing he'll be surpassing that this summer at least once.
As has already been said it is not just adkins who has a say on transfers, from what i recall corteses has made 2 signings for this club himself, those being guly & papa waigo, both of whom turned out to be good signings. I for one am expecting another player from italy this year.
I'm prepared to wait and see how he does this summer. I have confidence he'll do well, because he did at Scunthorpe, but we'll just have to wait and see.
I think Adkins has made some decent signings. I like Forte - I don't think strikers should be judged on goals, especially when we have goalscorers like Lambert, Barnard, Lallana, Chamberlain etc. in our team. He makes an impact which is useful for some matches. Plus, Stephens and Chaplow have been good. I don't understand why some people think Pardew was amazing in the transfer window. I can think of a lot of his signings that weren't that good.
Puncheon? Antonio and Waigo weren't any better than N'Guessan and Forte IMO I don't rate Harding either
I agree with this entirely. Adkins ain't sure how to spend proper money, so has brought crap since arriving.
