Striker Emmanuel Adebayor has warned Tottenham their season will be as good as over unless they start to improve quickly.
Should Tottenham lose to West Ham on Sunday they will have lost four successive league games for the first time in eight years.
"We're all frustrated about the way things are going," he said. "I don't know what's not clicking. Hopefully it will start clicking as soon as possible otherwise, trust me, we will find ourselves in difficulty.
"At the moment things are looking bad, but we just have to find a way to get through this. We have to improve because we're not playing the best game at the moment."

Adebayor has an uncanny and rare ability to hold on to the ball in very tight forward positions. Thereby creating chances often out of nothing. His importance to our team was very clear in the Arsenal game for the first 15 minutes or so before he was sent off following his adrenalin rush. A similar event occurred in Gazza's last Cup Final for us.
We thought it was daft and so did he in hindsight but this is part of the players makeup that makes them the player they are. We still rated Gazza and in the same way I still rate Adebayor.

Well I hope we beat West Ham with or without Ade. If it's four defeats on the trot then he could be right in what he said and AVB will have to be looked at. I've never been totally happy with Ade as he misses some sitters and disappears for 7 matches on the trot as he did last season. I've not too much faith in Defoe either. I just hope that we get the win which will kick start us again. We should have won last night but it's a league win we need.

The defence and central midfield were terrible. Ade was even more effective midfield as he was pulled back. Defoe was awfull but thank god for Hugo!!, WE GOT A CLEAN SHEET!!!

Agreed.
That's why it is so infuriating that he seems to be having a pop at the whole team, when his mistakes have cost us dear. Why doesn't he just keep his head down, shut up, get on with his training, and vow to make amends for being a complete tit? If he had to say anything about the team's recent woeful performances, why didn't he say, "we've all let the fans down, especially me"?
He may be a great player, and the best striker we've had in a long while, but that comment makes it look like he's distancing himself from the team to save his own sorry ass, instead of stepping up and taking his fair share of the blame. I'd respect him, if he did that; I don't when he doesn't.

El Bando,we had a good goal disallowed so we should have won. They didn't have the ball in the net did they and Lloris did his job so in that respect we weren't lucky. At 0-1 who knows what would have happened? Ade though had better start performing soon.

His comments do not suggest any distancing of any kind, far from it. Isn't it funny how two people can read the same bit of text and come up with opposing conclusions.
He's not the best striker in the world but he's the best we have. Instead of underminding players of this mature., We should be encouraging then to excel for us., after all they have the talent and confidence is a strikers best friend whilst on the pitch. Lets not discourage any spurs player who has such a keen desire to put in a shift towards our cause with derisive and contemptuous statements.

Ade is a top top talent. He can score all sorts of goals, he knows where he needs to be (has that natural strikers instinct) and he is powerful. He had a phenomenal season with Arsenal, did well at the start with City was good at Real and had a good first season with you lot.
He does have some major down sides though. I think part of his 'disruptive' influence is that he doesn't give a **** about the clubs he plays for or the end result. He purely plays for himself and no-one else. A girl i worked with last year spent some time with him at a club last season. She isn't a footy fan but has Arsenal supporting family and so she asked about the footy - he simply said he doesn't care if spurs win or not they pay him enough to <insert several big headed footballer type im rich comments>. It was after he had performed really bad in one of the big games, was it against City? And she got the impression he was all about the money and didn't seem interested at all in the club. That is of course in a situation where he is trying to show off to women so i'm sure he wants to talk alot about the money - he's hardly the best looking bloke!
But it does seem to be a running theme that he plays very well until he gets the contract he wants and then he just doesn't try as hard. He seems more interested in what is happening with himself than what is going on with the team. Or thats the impression i get from him anyway. And i'm sure that annoys the hell out of players who are loyal spurs players who work there arses off to try and succeed.
He also lets his personal vendettas get in the way of the teams aims. He holds a grudge aganst old teams and clearly has rivalries with individual players as well, from opposing teams and players he has played with!
On the other hand he does alot of good with his money and after the attacks on the bus he was traveling in i thought he conducted himself really well.
Theres two sides to every story and i'm sure he isn't the super arsehole lots of us probably make him out to be, but he probably is a bit of a self centred dick.
As long as you can keep him motivated to play he is a brilliant striker. Depends how often he bothers to turn up, he can be very lazy! And how often he can keep his hot head under control.
I don't think he's done enough wrong since being at Tottenham for you lot to worry about him just yet though, last season he gave you a cutting edge up front, thought he was really good.

Yes, we'll written, and I wouldn't disagree with most of what you say. I've had the feeling for a while that Ade was mostly interested in Ade. As you say, motivation is key. But how to do that now he has the contract he wanted, looks like being the problem.
I have to say, he strikes me as not being a particularly balanced individual. He gives the impression, as you claim, of being self centred, petulant, vindictive, and at times, lazy.
Whether this is true or not it may well come down to your personal feelings about the man. I think we would agree that last season Ade performed very well for us. This season remains to be seen but already many fans are blaming him for our defeat at Arsenal. The question is was his behavior motivated by selfish or team motives? How can you tell, in any case every player is using his ego to motivate his performance. So it's where you draw the line in other words personal judgement or self assessment. Many of the greatest players have the huge ego bit it's probably what made them great in the first place. Maradona, Gazza, Best, to name just 3 of the better ones.
So MY question is why pick on Adebayor? As a Spurs fan I'm glad he's in our squad and so far he has been overwhelmingly a benefit rather than a liability.
Nothing the Goons like better than a bit of the "i told you so's" mixed in with a glass of sour grapes.
To say he hasn't performed this season is a bit rough, hardly had any game time.
