Adebayor Off?

There was a deal in the Netherlands before (Eerste Divisie) where a club really needed to get a player off their wage bill (he was on loads, club had been relegated - financial crisis), so agreed to sell him to a Eredivisie club, with the exception that the original club continued to pay 25% of his wages until the date when his contract would've ended with them.

I wonder if City would be interested in a deal like this?
 
If he's so happy at Spurs we should do him a deal. Tell him to go back to City but refuse personal terms with anyone that tries to buy him. We'll then re-loan him every year on a similar deal to now til his contract expires in 2014. Then we get cheap(ish) wages and no transfer fee.
Everyone is happy, except City who have to pay £100k a week for nothing. Sounds fair to me.
 
I think the best solution would be if we were able to get him on a £100k a week contract, but include various performance related bonuses so that if he performs well he would be earning a great deal more. Say for every 10 goals he scores he gets a £1m bonus. His basic salary would be £5.2 million on £100k pw, if he scores 10 goals it would be £6.2 million, if he scores 20 goals it would be £7.2 million, which equates to £140k per week. This provides an incentive for him to do well, and not sulk, and I doubt Spurs would miss £2 million every year if it guarantees a 20 goal a season striker...

As I've said, if there's any deal to be done with City, it would almost inevitably involve them realising that they must get Ade's wages off their books, and adjusting the transfer fee accordingly. What's his worth on the open market? Under normal circumstances, I think, well in excess of £20mm - let's see what the asking price is.
 
Ade has been doing a great job at Spurs, we'd like to keep him, obviously, but not if we can't afford to. It may seem like a good negotiating tactic to him. In any case, he's been a great addition, I've become a big fan, and plan to stay that way until there's something substantive to stop me. Ade saying he won't take a pay cut is neither here nor there, as far as I'm concerned.
 
I think we've all noticed how happy Ade has been since his move, but its nice to hear it from himself, he's played under some serious managers so its also nice to hear praise for our Harry.

There's also a little insight into his supposed quest for cash, it would appear he's doing a fair bit for his homeland, so fair play to him for that. Tbh I don't see him with all the trappings of your Rooney's and your Tevez's. I'm beginning to think he's been misunderstood and mislabelled as a mercenary myself.

I think that Adebayor is simply more forthright than most footballers, and probably a lot more intelligent, too. I think he's simply putting a pointer down to both City and us, to say that, whichever way they cut the deal, he wants to be properly and fairly remunerated. Personally, I don't see what the big deal is.
 
To be earning so much more than the others then his performances must reflect that. I know what you're all saying but he must not go 6 matches scoreless too often. I feel confident that he will come good though.
 
Adebayor has done well for Spurs so far and I would like him on a permanent deal but not on crazy wages, he is a good player but has also missed many chances for us of late (as well as taking a few) and doesnt look clinical enough to me. Against Villa and world class CF would have had at least 2 more goals, there is no question he has improved us in forward areas however, certainly an improvement on Crouch And Pav.

I would be happy with a permanent strikeforce of Ade, Defoe, VDV + another (Leandro maybe?)
