If anything, UEFA should be encouraging deals like this - if clubs like city or Chelsea offer wages nobody can compete with, if the player wants a move the club has to subsidize a chunk of their wages for the remainder of their remaining contract. Besides, it's not the first time one of our players was being paid by their former club with us - Robbie Keane was, due to the agreements Leeds had with the sports agency they were using to sign players at the time (so they were probably also paying wages to Rio Ferdinand and Harry Kewell when they sold them as well), and it;s certainly less murky than the co-ownership deals Italian clubs often have.
A Chelsea supporting photographer neighbour just told me Ade has signed....ok then. 25 goals Ade and I'll be happy.
I agree when it comes to his work for his home country he does some really good stuff. When it comes to his football though he's only as dedicated as he needs to be to pick up his pay cheque. If he put his mind to it he could be one of the best strikers in europe. He's a good buy for you guys though at £5mil and City paying some of his wages - especially with only defoe as an option up top!
I probably should have guessed that you would have been linked with a few strikers this summer! I seem to remember you being linked with Loic Remy at some point this summer. Decent enough record in France in the past few seasons and at around £10M, that could be a good bit of business. With Levy in charge, you could get that fee down a little bit more.
And he'd be alone with that attitude in the modern game then??? Not honourable and not interested in the money like anyone who has gone to Citeh or the Chavs in recent years or, oh, say RVP?? Oh wait......
Jheez you are hostile, he wasn't even having a dig, and he didn't say there weren't other players like him. He just gave his analysis.
We do. Kane definitely isn't ready and I don't see the point in letting the other competitions go to pot if Defoe or Ade gets a longterm injury. I'd have liked us to get someone like Odemwingie who's a bit versatile and cheap.
How many strikers do yourselves, United, and City have? ...we are not fine. You wrote this on our board only a few hours ago, are you having a wee wum?
Chelsea are probably a little short in that area themselves, actually. Torres, Sturridge and that's about it, isn't it? We definitely need one more striker though, in my opinion. We're still being endlessly linked with a ton, but that doesn't mean much.
