Still to go: New striker 2: Lots and lots of rumours, but nothing concrete. Versatile winger: Adam Johnson? A goalkeeper: Lloris or Cesar? All a little quiet, so maybe Matt Ryan, the young Aussie. Modric: Soon, hopefully. Shift deadwood: Bassong's gone, rumours about others. Moving along pretty nicely, though.
I don't normally post on other boards than Arsenal but i'll make an exception for Adebarndoor. He is quality. When he wants to do well he does and he is the best striker you've had at Tottenham in recent years. He has done well in periods at Arsenal, Real, City and Tottenham. It's a shame he doesn't keep trying. His attitude holds him back. The main thing about him though is he is a complete mercenary. It's all about the cash, nothing to do with the football. I was working with someone who used to frequent exclusive night spots who met with Ade a few times, in particular after you lost to Arsenal and as your season started to fall apart. He couldn't care less about the results and wasn't bothered by the loss to Arsenal and my friend was also out drinking with him the night before you guys played city. He is self centered and really only cares about getting his cash and feeling cool because he is a footballer. He has no dedication to the cause, so although he is a useful player - he's definatly not one to be relyed on.
Some talk of Citeh continuing to pay up to 60% of his wages for next 2 years!! If that is the case then that is one of the best bits of biz ever done by Spurs. So funny to see some of the comments from the Goons....
Thanks for the input - I am sure you mean well. But you might like to take a look at the work and personal investment he has made back in his native Togo. Yes, he might demand the best wage possible but wouldn't we all? And if a fair proportion of that is going directly back into improving the lot for his countrymen then he sure doesn't sound all bad.
While I have no reason to question your good will or veracity, posting a highly critical evaluation of one of our players on a Spurs thread as an admitted Arsenal fan confirms in my mind that Adebayor is in fact more saintly than Mother Teresa and loves Spurs more than his own life.
The rumours were that he was going to be on about £100k pw, with the difference made up by a signing on fee from us and some sort of payout from City to cover his charity donations. Don't think anyone actually knows for sure, though.
We've been waiting for the tribunal to set the fees for Fryers and Hall since mid-July! Can't they just check their values on FM12 and set that as the price?
The Fail had another good news day. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2191427/Edin-Dzeko-wanted-Tottenham.html "The club had been looking to make Emmanuel Adebayor's loan deal from City last season permanent, but the Togolese's £175,000-a-week wage demands mean they have now switched their attention to Dzeko" PUBLISHED: 14:00, 21 August 2012 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2191560/Emmanuel-Adebayor-signs-Tottenham.html "Tottenham have signed Emmanuel Adebayor from Manchester City." PUBLISHED: 17:45, 21 August 2012 Even for them that's quick.
hahaha that sprint and those arsenal fans is a moment that'll never be forgotten... but for me, the icing on the cake (just to rub salt into the wound after watching that) is the score confirmation at the end which also shows "Almunia OG". - which most will have forgotten about, as the goal celebration stole all the glory! what a bad day at the office!
Why should there be a rule against it, if one club can get another to agree to pay their player, thats just business genius! Could be worse, we could have bought Andy Carroll for £35!
The problem with this delay is that the players concerned are not allowed to play in competitve games. So whilse we were able to play them in pre-season friendlies, we can't play them in the under 21 league until the tribual have sat. To illustrate how farcial this situation is, apparantly the tribunal was set to decide the fee, and then some bright spark realised that a member of the tribunal committee was none other than David Pleat, who they decided just might have a sense of bias, so they all packed up and went home !!! Unbelievable.
I would have been quite happy if we had paid £35 for Carroll! - Back on topic, excellent business for yourselves. £5M for a player with nearly 20 league goals last season is very good and if he can get near or even improve on that figure in the coming season, you will have got yourselves an absolute bargain! Still feel you need one more striker to boost the numbers in those forward positions. Not too sure who you've been linked with apart from Adebayor?
