Adams Out? How long should he be given?

Discussion in 'Norwich City' started by ThaiCanary, Oct 22, 2014.

?

How long should we give Neil Adams?

1. Get rid now

2. Get rid at end of December (if in bottom half)

3. Get rid at end of December (if results don't improve)

4. Give rid at end of the season (if in bottom half)

5. Give rid at end of the season - if not promoted

6. Keep him for next season (if we finish in top half)

7. Keep him next season (wherever we finish)

it's really very simple. promotion is the absolute be-all and end-all this season. if we are not in a position to win promotion adams will likely lose his job because with the quality at his disposal, he will have failed. but league campaigns are not decided this early in a season and the championship (as some seem to have forgotten) is extremely competitive and throws up bizarre results every week. if we are struggling to even reach the play offs when the season gets to the nitty gritty end around march, then he will be in trouble.

we've been a tad unlucky to have this poor run of results as we've had enough chances to be sitting on 32 points rather than 22, but i think we had some luck earlier in the campaign and probably gained around 6 points in fortuitous circumstances - its swings and roundabouts. however both the players and the manager need to up their games considerably if we are to gain promotion. adams should be given time as he is still developing but he needs to learn quickly or we will blow our best opportunity of a return to the top flight. i personally think this squad is the best in the division and anything other than promotion would be a disaster.

the pressure is huge this season but adams doesn't have much time to learn. i'm concerned he isn't learning quickly enough but no, he shouldn't be fired just because we've had a few iffy results which frankly could and probably should have ended in convincing victories.

we sit 5th in the table and have barely got out of 2nd gear. adams future will depend on whether he can get this team to go through the gears. we'll know more by the turn of the year.

Give him the time he requires to have a few ups and downs, from which he and the team will learn from and will galvanise us further in this tough league. Like Thai I find it difficult to reconcile to some of the recent results when I'm not able to see what's going on. The big picture is that we have been unlucky, the results will come. It's not as if we are crap and have been playing badly. A couple of tweaks and we'll be good and I think we'll be dishing out a few hidings.

My final word re: pianos (no cat's I'm afraid) is this

Whether we go up or not, at least we are getting attacking and entertaining football. I'd take that over premier league status any day.

Well, given that your post is completely at odds with the vast majority of this thread bar the misleading title and poll (which the OP has already confirmed don't quite match what he was getting at), that does imply a severe case of deficient comprehension skills.

Either that, or you were just deliberately trying to get a rise. But I fully believe that Guru the Lily White would never have such a thing in mind. Oh no, Guru is the victim, never so insidious as to be the one trying to stoke a fight.

so, its my imagination that there is a thread on here asking how long to give him? That was a serious answer, what do you guys expect from him, personally at the start of the season a club with such an inexperienced manager as Adams I would have expected you to fall short of the playoff because the championship can be an unforgiving place.

So Rob, I'm not going to derail a thread getting in a petty argument with you about the if, whys and maybes, because frankly your not worth it.

Thai, you are at it again!!
I believe it was you that originally stirred up the CH debate which became so totally divisive and now you are back on the same ticket again. FFS if you threw a blanket over the top half of the league you would comfortably cover all clubs and we are in there, there is no need for this bebate. The need for instant gratification is becoming ridiculous and we can well do without this thread IMO.

Well he's right, but he's only preaching to a few (and enjoying it!)

Wasn't long ago some were suggesting we could produce two teams that would win this league. Most knew this was a little far-fetched. We're going well, I'm looking forward to the rest of the season.

It certainly is not a knee-jerk from me - I clearly stated that I am in no way in an Adams out camp - far from it.

My question to those who have raised an eyebrow (or more) at this thread is............following a run of 7 games without a win, despite dominating in virtually every one of them, and seeing a change of formation making no difference in the outcome, should Neil Adams ability to get results not be put in to question, given the resources available to him?

The poll was geared towards "getting rid" of Adams with only 2 of the 5 options keeping him so it seems in stark contrast to your actual views.
Personally i think everyone should be able to post whatever they think is right i just strongly disagree that we need to even contemplate disposing of our manager at this stage .
When we got pumped by both Manchester clubs last season i wanted Hughton to go but so far this season we have been good enough with our rookie manager.

Seriously, was the 'General' the only one to see the parody in this?

I could have worded the poll differently I guess

1. Keep him forever
2. Keep him until end of December (if in bottom half)
3. Keep him until end of December (if results don't improve)
4. Keep him until end of the season (if in bottom half)
5. Keep him until end of the season - if not promoted
6. Keep him for next season (if we finish in top half)
7. Keep him next season (wherever we finish)
