From what I've seen admittingly only on TV I'm not convinced Adam is up to premiership standards ,shows flashes of class but also disappears in games where as JWP looks the part to me ,always wants to be involved ,comfortable on the ball and obviously good in dead ball situations, I realise Adam is a fans favourite and he has shown fantastic loyalty but not convinced he can produce at this level ,am expecting to be jumped on at these comments but from looking from afar so to speak that's my observations ,any thoughts?

Actually a better question would be Adam or Gaston to be honest. JWP is a completely different player to Lallana.
Adam or Gaston is the better question. As they are primarily creative players it goes that they can be substituted to replace each other, or can be replaced by a different type, possibly more solid, with less flair. Yes, JWP would be a good balance there. Horses for courses. Adam's fine.

I have always had time for Adam and have liked watching him improve as a player but I think he has become a small fish in a big pond in the premiership. He tries to be to clever and it ends up with him losing the ball majority of the time. Yesterday there were numerous times he could have played a simple pass but instead tried to be clever or try that bloody turn on the ball and lose possesion.
I agree this thread should be Gaston or Adam. I would have brought Gaston on yesterday as I think him and Osvaldo would have linked up well.

If your playing to a system them it shouldn't matter what style or type of player replaces another
There's no hate, he just hasn't really produced. I missed Norwich where he apparently played well, and he had a good 10/15 minutes after halftime before he was subbed against Sunderland, but that first half he was poor. I thought he did ok yesterday and started to look lively and was a little surprised he came off. I don't think there's any Adam hate though.
No Adam hate on my part just my thought on his performances ,surely you can make an opinion without it being a hate thing ? Had it been Guly I'm sure lots of people would be on here saying he is rubbish and should have been sold ,for me each player is rated on merit not on favouritism
I wouldn't say it was anything like the majority of the time. Players of his nature take chances and they are encouraged to. They can afford to because they are higher up the pitch, and nothing ever comes off 100%. As for his Cruyff turn which he performs perfectly, if a little too often, on one or two occasions he completely unbalanced the player opposing him, and left him able to deliver the pass or cross.
OK, by that simple statement, Poch could put Hooiveld on for Osvaldo. I assume you mean something slightly closer to reality though.
If you replace a player with another of a different type, then either you ask that player to go out and try to do the same job that the original player was best suited to do [which was why he was in the starting 11 after all], or you change the style and therefore the system slightly, by getting the player to play to his strengths. If you bring on the different type player and ask him to do what the original player was doing, he won't be so good at it. He will inevitably do things his way and those strengths and skills may be more effective.
Poch is bound to change the system slightly throughout a game, either with the existing players on the pitch, or with substitutions. He will change it, as he requires it.
Previous posts, no adam hate here just stating my opinion.
Don't get me wrong I am all for players trying to be creative to get something out of a ball. Look at Osvaldo's as MOTD2 decribed it "hollywood moment" shame it didn't pull off. I just think Adam tries to be to clever to much. He has the talent there but just needs to play some simple passes.
I don't fret if Adam plays, but he hasn't shone as I expected. He was one of the best players for us...don't see it like that now. In the past, I would have worried if he picked up an injury, but not so at the moment. JWP is a good passer of the ball and good at free kicks and corners. Not a flashy player, but he is only eighteen and I am really looking forward to seeing him in his prime. Mauricio and England seem very keen on him. Good to have both Adam and James to choose from. Gaston seems lost at the moment...another good player to have on the bench...but hasn't forced himself into the reckoning. You might have thought he would be more of Mauricio's type of player than JWP, but apparently not.
I think it's a valid question. Lallana hasn't been brilliant lately, and Gaston hasn't put in one single good performance for us as far as I'm concerned. JWP has played in the wide midfield position at least once this season, and it worked.
.. but unfortunately failed to because he took an extra touch. Take the second half one on our right flank. He had taken a corner and then the ball came back out top him with Nolan closing. He did a great Cruyff turn and instead of delivering the cross straight away with their defenders on the back foot an possibly un-prepared for it, he took an extra touch allowing Nolan and a defender to smother it out for a corner. He really should know that the opportunity was their to deliver it and that the earlier cross is always the better cross.
I'm all for critiquing players and having opinions and a dig when someone performs poorly, but for me you lose so much credibility with that statement. Maybe you meant to say 'this season' or 'this year' or since so and so game. All it tells me is you don't understand some points of the game, or maybe you are drunk at the games as you mentioned you were at one game; so drunk in fact you said you didn't remember it.
