A former FC Zurich starlet, Janko's arrival on a permanent deal comes after reports linked Welsh right back Adam Matthews with a £1.5million move to Queens Park Rangers.
Janko spent the second half of last season under former Celtic boss Neil Lennon at Bolton where he made 10 first team appearances.
The Swiss prospect joined United in September 2013 in a £700,000 deal but saw his first team opportunities at Old Trafford limited despite United U21 boss Warren Joyce saying: 'He's certainly a powerful boy. There are a lot of things that he has got to improve on but he is strong, quick and can go past people.'
