I think the likes of Peterboro will take a punt on lower league players because they don't have the budget to pay bigger money and secondly as a smaller club there's less pressure to stay in this division should the gamble fail.
There isn't much of a gamble if the price is say £200,000. These players won't be demanding a lot in wages and considering we have the second smallest squad in the Championship there should be room.
Flabbergasted that we 'appear' to have one of he smallest squads in the division.. TWS's is allegedly a 48 man squad and the second biggest in the division - their wage bill is £11.5m, whilst ours is topping £20m and according to a recent comment by AP was amongst the biggest if not the biggest in the Championship. What does that tell you of the quality of some of the so called squads?
Ours is nowhere near the biggest in the Champsionship, we only have two players left from the Premier League hangover, Cardiff, Leicester, Boro, Birmingham, Bolton, Blackburn and Wolves will all have higher wage bills than ours.
Have a look at our squad and see how many first teamers there actually are. The likes of Cullen, Devitt, Bradley, Oxley etc are in that 36 (I saw on another thread) and are going to be on peanuts. If you said those 11 cheapest players were taking £5k a week each on average, a wage bill topping £20M would mean the remaining 25 were taking about £16M between them, or averaging about £12k a week. Even with McShane and Olofinjana included, there's no way there's 25 players earning an average of £12k/wk.
