I'll go with 3 years. 18 mths inside and 18 mths suspended.
 
Ex-England footballer Adam Johnson is to appeal against his conviction of sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl.

Johnson was found guilty of sexual touching but cleared of one charge relating to another sexual act following a trial at Bradford Crown Court.

The court was told the grounds for appeal had been lodged on Thursday.

The former Sunderland winger is in court awaiting sentencing.

Johnson previously admitted grooming the girl and one charge of sexual activity.

Judge Jonathan Rose previously warned him he faced a "substantial prison sentence"

A woman who posed as a man named Jason online to dupe teenage girls into having sex with her using a rubber penis has been jailed.

Jennifer Staines, 23, was so convincing that one of her three young victims still doesn't fully accept that her 'boyfriend' was in fact a woman.

Today, Staines, from Preston, Lancashire, was jailed for three years and three months after she admitted a string of sex offences against the girls, who were aged between 12 and 17 at the time.

Bristol Crown Court heard that over the course of five years, manipulative Staines tricked the three young women into having sex with her, by posing as a man named Jason Spiller.

She groomed her victims using fake social media profiles, which she created under the name of Jason, because she was looking for 'love'.

The teenage girls she contacted believed they were talking to a man, and online conversations led to them meeting up and becoming romantically involved with Staines.

One of those relationships lasted for more than a year, the court heard, while the twisted fraudster even went on holidays with the young girls, changing in toilets to disguise the fact that she was really a woman.

To stop her victims from discovering the truth, Staines would not allow the girls who fell in love with her to touch her body, though she could touch them, the court heard.

She even used condoms with her victims, although on one occasion one of the girls went to her doctor concerned she could be pregnant.

When officers visited Staines's home they found a rubber penis, covered in incriminating DNA.

Different when it's a woman though.
 
Away from the hype what he did wasn't the greatest crime ever and if he was the local Chav/Ned from the Estate he'd get a 2 year suspended sentence. What with him being so high profile I'd expect the Judge to be a bit more harsh and go for about 5 years. More than that and Johnson's legal team will certainly complain that it is too long for a nosh & a whiffy finger.

Not sure what the grounds for an appeal are, he's admitted what he did so is bang to rights and should expect at least some time away in chokey.

Sorry Adam, it's 16 for a reason and you have to take what's coming to you.
