So this could mean the departure of one of Larsson or McClean then? To be honest, he is one of those players I think we will forever be linked with but never end up actually signing, a la Charles N'Zogbia, Robbie Keane, Richard Dunne, etc.
Why would Man U put a bid in? They lready have excess wingers in Nani, Valencia and Young. Dubt SAF would pay that sort of money for a bit part player, and doubt he would want to go there for even less gamtime than he's getting at city? I can see him going to spurs or arsenal, IF they put bids in and can offer him regular games - big IF though, with spurs having lennon and arsenal having walcott. Maybe liverpool but not sure kenny would dare put a bid in - it would be like admitting hendo isn't good enough (after what they paid for him!) The mags is a tricky one - obviously if they put in a similar offer to ours he would probably go there as they will in all likelihood be in europe next season, or if not then they will at least be competing for european places till the last day imo. However, not sure Ashley would pay that sort of money? Also, can't see why they would really want him - I thought Ben Arfa was their RW? Very similar players and tbh Ben Arfa is probably as good as if not better than him anyway, imo. After that lot I think we have to be next favourites, assuming Everton can't afford him. Which actually leaves me being quite hopeful - for the reasons above I can't really see any of the top 7 going for him...
Oh and also, I have a funny feeling this may well be the case also... Regarding Larsson or McClean, I don't see why it should? We need competition for places. I would personally go for McClean on the left and Johnson on the right - now that would give teams headaches! I may get shot down for this but imo Larsson just isn't a good enough right winger. He has very little pace, and he very rarely beats a man, two of the most important attributes for the position imo. No doubt he puts in a very good cross, but he doesn't get into positions to make them often enough. We can't afford to keep him in the team purely for dead balls if we want to progress. Having said that, I'd happily have him ascover for the RW and also, personally, I think he'd make a cracking CM. Great vision and a decent passer, and as demonstrated against Man C he knows when to get forward, has a decent shot on him, and can time his runs well. I'd really like to see him given a chance in the middle tbh - think he's made for it.
Yep..............wonder where 50k a week is plucked from, bet he is highly impressed in taking about a 50% pay cut.
Mate I have ben saying this since day one. Larsson is not a winger, he is a CM, and maybe a very good one. I also think Johnson would come to us. He seems to support Boro, Sunderland and Newcastel, but MON is very persuasive. Even if Newcastle get into Europe I think he would come to us for the MON factor.
tbf everytime i saw him play last season he did really well.... but he has fallen out with manch hasnt he so he unhappy and wont play aswell???
You're right but I think Man City will be quite petty and refuse to sell him to Utd!! He was on Newcastle's books as a youngster and watched from the standsas he had free tickets - he supported Sunderland as a boy (I'm talking a kid not teenager!) so think he has, at some point, supported both clubs - I've heard him say he's supported Sunderland and also heard him say he loved watching Newcastle in the days of Keegan etc..(He never used the word supported about the mags in the interviews I've seen)
here is hoping Everton beat the mags, it would stick in my craw for the skunks to get champions League, we would be bombarded with all things skunk, better to have them as Johnny come latelies than actually doing it, then next season we stuff them.and as we know they are premature ejeculators, always want to excite but cant last the pace.
