This is splendid news if the deal come off. I will not be putting my house on us winning the League though as anything does and will happen during the course of the season. Like Gills79 I do have similar doubts about the state of the Club's finances and just do not know where the money has come from. Pinning one's hopes on increased gates is a tad ambitious but we will just have to wait and see. I must admit though that some of our signings have raised eyebrows as both Scally and Hessy had promised a couple of weeks ago. UTG

i read that he has a very young family and he coaches a youth team or something in maidstone. so the lure of gillingham will be not haing to up-root his family or give up on his hobbies. plus having worked under hess before he knows that they can get along plus he'll know the other dover players and possibly king in the squad. yes the lure of di canino and maybe a bit more money from swindon may lure him but i think we will offer a more than competitive contract and the other bonuses should seal it. plus even the dover chairman has admitted that he said he'd like to sign for us.

plus a medical doesnt mean the papers are signed, just that if passed then the clubs formally make the offer

check all the previous links to back up what i've just said :p

I think he wants to come to us,but sensibly he's saying Wimbledon and Swine are good clubs and he's indicating he hasn't decided where to go yet. If he came out and said "Gillingham is where I'm going",then that might affect the contract Scally will offer him, if he thinks Adam is only interested in us.

i do hope your right born again!

don't feel so sure regards this one?<yikes>

swindon are going to be no push overs, and i just hope hess lets kedwell talk to birchall about why the gills would be a much better move than afc wimbledon, along with flitney and fish on why it would be a good move for him!... then scally can conclude things for us!!!:emoticon-0150-hands

feel this would be a top signing for us, and i don't say that much!

It will be great if we get him as well, so promising at the moment.

I think he will sign for us. Movin a heavily pregnant woman and raising a newborn child in an environment that he doesn't know too well isn't the wisest of choices, that rules swindon out. Wimbledon are a good side and I think they will be able to secure mid table next season. However Gillingham, a local side, a team that both Birchall and his parents live near seems the most likely choice. I believe (if I were him) I would say that it isn't a done deal so that I am not held to ransom over salary. I'd be surprised and disappointed if he doesn't sign for us. Lets get out of this division. UTG!

Where has all the money come from,i kow we got some extra cash when Norwich went up but how come we couldn t afford a decent contract for Akin but now can afford around 300k on signings. Well done Mr Scally but has he won on the lottery. Maybe he is expecting to sell someone, Payne maybe?

We may let Payne go but it's not really a bad thing if you think about it. Seeing as next year the centre of midfield looks like being a Montrose and Lee partnership, it makes sense to tell him now rather than leave him on the bench.
