Skysports.com understands Blackburn are ready to join the chase for Preston North End starlet Adam Barton.

A number of clubs are tracking the highly-rated 20-year-old after he impressed for Preston last season.

The 20-year-old was Preston's shining light last term as they suffered relegation from the Championship.

As a result of their relegation Preston are now facing a fight to keep the talented midfielder at Deepdale.

Stoke had been regarded as favourites to sign Barton, with Potters boss Tony Pulis having watched the player on several occasions last season.

However, Blackburn are now prepared to enter the fray for the promising youngster as Steve Kean looks to bolster his squad.

Rovers, along with a number of other clubs, are thought to have watched Barton in action this pre-season as they weigh up making moves for the player.

You're right Nick, I am still waiting to hear what Pulis means by moving forward after the initial 3 years in the Premier League. There has been little sign of it so far this summer. Unless we strengthen in the areas most fans agree need strengthening then we could face a relegation battle this term. I am not sure we are going backwards but standing still is no good either.

Yes we all like to see the players in early to get them settled in. But given what was achieved last year, give TP some credit please. TP does some very odd things in my book and I have vented frustrations but I remain optimistic that we will see us move forward, not necessarilly in the first few home games though!!!

Patience is a virtue I am told.

As for new signings who knows whats goin on spoke to local press the other day and there words were ...
Nothing at all gets leaked ... even backroom staff dare not talk !!!!
Sentinel tell me that they get nothin until completion .. TP really is that private so how do u expect to know what he is up to !
