I beg to differ, when Sone got the ball yesterday, he always looked dangerous. we have fairly talented strikers, but they seem to lack that killer instinct.
In honesty I think a lot of you need a reality check, four games into the season and our players are not good enough, the last thing we need to do is lambaste our players what I saw yesterday was a decent passing side and a fairly entertaining game that we could have won. Are we bottom, no so there are teams with less points Cricky how much did Cardiff pay for negal(I think that's what they called him) may be they are worried only time will tell, Huddleston looks great we have so many new players that need time to gel so lets get behind them.
How do you know we didn't. Maybe we kept on going for strikers on Brucies wish list until one actually wanted to come.
Keep hearing about this lad, so I looked at his wiki and he has one hell of a scoring record. 6.5m seems about right would be worth a go.
I dunno what to say but this is a serious issue now. It's not about this season. We have rarely ever been prolific. Doesn't matter who the manager is, doesn't matter how many strikers we bring in or how often we change playing style it just doesn't change.
I think it will come, Graham is starting to get into goal scoring positions, he just needs a goal. Aluko will start to score, now he is getting back up to speed after his injury. Both have had off side goals disallowed, which shows that they are getting into the right areas, if they had stood we could have had a completely different situation now. Sagbo and Gedo are to come in, so we do have other options, In addition I am sure Koren and Huddlestone will start to get a goal or two from mid-field, it just needs a game where one or two goes in, as SB puts it, a lucky one off someone back side, and we will be OK.
Posted this on the Quinn Thread but maybe worth posting here as well. Agree with the above see below: Putting goals away when chances are laid at your feet or head is one thing and should be bread and butter for a good striker. But those that score more than a handful create their own chances. Waggy did it. Aluko does it. And Brady did it in the Cup match against Leyton Orient. I am not calling for Grahams head. And I hope he scores lots of goals for us. But not really seen him create any opportunities (yes I know he has to get in position for an attempt to be missed), his misses have been on the plate chances. Would like see Brady have a chance up front allowing Quinn to move into Bradys current spot.
Would be brilliant if we sign this lad, but Bruce still seems keen on Long who is a great player. I just hope we don't put all our eggs in one basket with Long.
Speaking about coaches, it has always puzzled me why visiting team buses seem to keep their engines running the whole time they are parked. Is it to keep the bus cool or keep the Champagne cold for the celebrations on the way home? Doesn't seem very environmentally friendly.
Gotta say I still believe that Graham will come good, Aluko as well, we ARE creating chances, which for the last few seasons have been at a premium, so we`re heading in the right direction, I also, unlike a lot of posters, think the return of Sagbu could be a major plus for us, he has had a rollocking off Brucie for being a numpty, and will come back with a point to prove, the game against Chelsea showed what he is all about, strength speed and power, Graham to start on Saturday, with Sagbo coming on for last thirty to rattle the Geordies even further. What`s that saying again `Don`t panic Mr Mainwaring`. We are gelling well as a team, and the goals will come against much stiffer defences then these lads have been used to.
We have brought a few strikers in since the summer and one of them has been suspended for a few games so it will take some time for a striking partnership to be built but looking at the next 3 games there are 9 winnable points there and once we get into a winning habit then strikers will start hitting their form and things will be ok
Good to hear a bit of positivity. Aluko has the ability to score goals at the highest level, a fit Gedo should be an improvement on Graham, Sagbo is an unknown quantity but could be a positive surprise, and Long is in the picture for January, while Brady is always an option up front. Compared to the choices of Proschwitz, McLean, and Fryatt last season when Aluko and Gedo went out we are way ahead.
I believe Sagbo, Graham, and Gedo all have goals in them. And I think they will get goals. I have faith in Graham, he's playing very well, it's set up for him to score at Newcastle.
was positive about this season as soon as promotion was ours - did state this season we would have finish 14th or higher and Bruce would be our most successful manager during the close season. I can see where people are coming from in terms of worry, but the league table is nothing until at least a dozen games have been played (can see Villa going down this season - along with Palace and West Brom).
