There’s no legal requirement re: keeping CCTV that I’m aware of, but most systems will keep at least 30 days worth of footage on the drive before it deletes, and if there’s a camera in the area then they should review it. The problem is, that they might have to review an entire shift or even 2 to find the footage, and speaking from personal experience that is a ****ing ball ache of a job, so they might not have been arsed.
I used to carry out loads of investigations back in my day, I used to go in knowing fook all and certainly not able to prove fook all, you just wing it and hope the person being investigated fooks up. So stay cool because they can't prove shhite, because you didn't do anything....simples mate. Just make sure they record down what your guy says about the truck, and make sure it is noted you requested for the CCTV to be looked at.
not my problem, let some **** watch me driving about for a whole shift. they may catch me doing a few things, but not crashing a truck.
the little fat pie eating **** doing it, don't want to do. but been told from above, and being a cock sucking twat, he's only doing his kiss arse job.
I know mate, and you should just tell them to check the CCTV and this will prove you didn’t damage it. This, combined with your forklift facts should be enough to get you off the hook. If all else fails, jut stick the nut on him and go full on Raul Moat. I’ll bring you some KFC and a fishing rod
Thing is remember mate, they have to investigate everyone that had access to the truck that day, because if they do know who done it, not to invesitgate you could be deemed as not having carried out a full and proper investigation of all possibilities.
**** knows, but you would think one of the biggest companies would have a decent system. shame it's managed by ****wits.
Sorry Comm just reading this now. I used to work as a legal consultant to companies during disciplinaries, grievances and redundancies and 90% mess it up entirely even when you tell them exactly what they can and can't do (construction companies were the worst, they'd come to you for advice and then argue with every bit of law you told them whilst you explained "i don't actually make the law...", they would then ignore what you advised and complain if there was any comeback on them). You can ask to record it, they can refuse, but you want someone else in there even if they are just a pair of ears. More often than not they are just going through the process and know what they want to do at the end of it, you have the right to appeal but chances are it'll be to the bosses wife or something rubbish. If they do terminate your contract then appeal irrespective of how pointless it is and let me know how it goes (PM if you prefer).
