2 weeks away and the hard work starts now? no chance, we have a problem. Spearing left his man for the first goal, not forwards problem, we didn't clear the ball away ( johnson, and others) Adam with the tackle for the PK. Flanno got caught up high, then got beat for pace and the boy skinned agger, or whoever the CB was. I will give you when we put more pressure on them we were much much better the second half and created a lot, but we still gave up a goal in the last few minutes ( Guangdong, Malaysia, Gala, and now valenrega conceded in added time). This is the mental blocks I am talking about. we were so close to only conceding two, winning the game, and getting out with a massive victory, and we still found a way to concede after a much more impressive and inspired second half. I want to be proved wrong. i hope so. I will be on the Rep and Music boards proabbly now seeing as i keep wanting to voice the same opinions and sound like a broken record!
There was one vital component missing...Lucas. He's the one that knits the whole thing together in the centre of that midfield. That was also the first time this pre-season that Reina,Agger and Johnson played in the same side. I reckon it was more of a concentration thing and a bit of rustiness that caused it. And their penalty was never a penalty and in a competitive game certainly would not have been given. Not in a million years. I reckon Lucas could even be on the bench against Valencia at the weekend. He has to be close to a return. If there was a bet on whom was more likely to feature betwene Lucas and Luis Suarez against Sunderland...my bet would be on Lucas.
And their penalty was never a penalty and in a competitive game certainly would not have been given...... hmmm your man berbatov and webb spring to mind. Lucas will play before Suarez will, doubt Suarez will even feature until possibly the second game, probably on the bench for the first game in case we need him. Lucas does hold it together but we are shipping goals against really weak opposition which is the most bothersome I guess i would have to say. Damn, got hooked back in.....
When you play for Liverpool FC, there is pressure from all quarters..some realistic, some totally stupid. I think John Henry has once again given a very fair challenge to Kenny and the team, Chelsea,United and Man City are all better teams/squads than us at the minute. However if we don't finish above the likes of Arsenal and Spuds i'd call that failure, as they really arn't that good.
Do United have a better squad than us? Are Gibson,Park,Anderson and Fletcher better than Kuyt,Ngog,Maxi,Joe Cole. I agree with Chelsea and City having better squads than us,but not United. Our average players are no less average than Man Uniteds average players.
KPR..I detest Utd as much as you lad, but facts are facts with there supposedly **** squad where did they finish?
United have a team that play for each other and a team that with a winning mentality like no other in the league. Putting names from one team against names from another team just makes you look childish and immature.
Thats just bollox, at Anfield and in the CL final United showed no heart no passion and no ideas whatsoever and those werent the only two ties they were completely outplayed in. Still your opinion of the team is truely amusing. And I never even mentioned that Fergie had to literally kick rooney into working in the CHampions league? final till now Fergie did a good job last season, he dragged that bunch of dkwads over the line even though he still had to depend on Chelsea and Arsenal collapsing in spectacular fashion.
every project has time set deliverables, CL qualification is a fair return on investment. As for the defence, UNited were scoring well away from home and playing well away from home preseason, and well look, awful away all season, preseason is a sign of nothng, and thats leaving out the fact that our first midfield was not even playing and those that were have had paltry time together, dodgy mid means goals conceded, again look at United, great back line but bags of goals conceded cos the middle was soft
We'll have to see how this season pans out to see if that claim is still justified. I accept that their winning mentality has stood them in good stead but they withdrew heavily on that account last year. Plus, psychologically, the loss of Neville and Scholes could leave a huge void in the dressingroom. Getting back to the topic, I believe that the target is SMART.
Do you really know anything about football? or are you trying to beat KPR to 666`s biggest no hoper! (trying to be polite). You do realise by putting CL final totally invalidated your argument, as we were a team that most opposition fans never expected us to get there and games against Lfc can go either way during your cup final with us. We keep winning titles and you win the odd game against us, i`m not complaining.
Yes DAve we will have to see how the season pans out. I also agree the oldtimers missing from the dressing room could have a negative influence.
I don't get what the big deal is? We al know top 4 should be the realistic challenge for us this season and it seems that the owners understands that. It's not like he's expecting us to win the league and anything less is a failure. It's just letting the players know (even though they should already) that they are good enough to get into the top 4. They haven't exactly said that Kenny will be fired if we don't get 4th or better. I think it wa smentione dbefore but in playing for Liverpool you know you are playing for a club that is going to be up the top of the table every year so if you can't handle that pressure then you'll soon be found out and sold on to a mid table team (a bit like Hodgson who couldn't handle the pressures of managing a big club).
Look, lets not beat around the bush, sporting gijon beat em Real beat em, but I tell thee, Real worked hard for their draw at the nou and the win in the cup. Even your talisman had to be told, publicly on TV, c'mon pull yer socks up and put ina shift. barca would beat anyone, but that doesn't excuse the wet soggy appearance on home soil, the indeicision and paralasis of Carrick and uselessness of Giggs and Hernandez Park and Valencia. Yes Barca were good, nay great, but jaesus, we got thumped by a rampant AC Milan and we still had the fkn stones to come out and have a go, granted you cant get the ball from Barca but when you have it surely you could have mustered an atack or two ffs, I know a little about football yeah, a little, not alot
