New head of coaching at the Academy, David Hughes. A former City player. He has done his time at a number of clubs, most lately at Southampton who have a great record of getting their Academy players into the first team. Hope he can generate the same success with us. https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport...kCopy&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=sharebar
This sounds like a positive step. As BfB says, coming from Southampton has to be a plus given their record in this area. Perhaps the next Gareth Bale will come through the ranks and thrill the crowds (hopefully) at the CCS in a blue shirt as well as red. I wish David Hughes the very best and hope he is successful in a role so vital to the club.
I see the Jack's Academy Head, Nigel Rees, is standing down after 12 very successful years. He helped develop players like Daniel James, Joe Rodon, Oli McPikey plus many more current Swans first team players. Hope our new guy can achieve at least half the level of success.
Recall when he was signed but it didn’t work out as he was injury stricken. Maybe one season we will see more of the youngsters coming through.
