Lasse Vigen Christensen Having made his debut for the 18 man squad selected to play Aston Villa last Sunday, Lasse may be little known. Some may even wonder why, for instance he was brought in ahead of Jolâs signing, Chris David. please log in to view this image Celebrating his goal in the U21 game v Reading (September 2013) Born in Esbjerg, Lasse signed as a schoolboy for his local proffesional club Esbjerg fB and it was here he began making a name for himself in Denmark. He was selected to play for the national U16 and U17 sides before signing for FC Midtjylland in 2010. Often touted as one of the brightest prospects in Danish football, he was offered a trial at Arsenal in the summer of 2011, though ultimately did not sign Lasse joined Fulham for an undisclosed fee in January 2012. He spent the rest of the season mainly with the U18 squad, though played a part in a handful of matches for the Development squad. The following season, he was a prominent member of the newly formed U21 squad and his versatility as a player came on, showing he was capable of playing on the right, in defence and as an attacking or defensive midfielder. In 2013-14 he was picked for Denmark U21's and scored on his debut and was taken with the Fulham first team in their 2013-14 pre-season tour of Costa Rica. His U21 record this year is, played 10, scored 1 and had 3 assists.
It appears we are in with a chance in signing another highly rated American who has been training with our youth team, " luca De La Torre." The Cottagers are hoping they can beat a host of other European clubs to his signature when he is 16 in June. He has allready been included in the forthcoming US under 17 international squad, described as an atacking midfielder fingers crossed
I see in a gossip column tonight that Man U have made an offer to take both Dembele and Roberts, at the seasons end, with a derisory figure of 1mil per player. Ok they may not as yet proved themselves, but should the club decide to take any offers there should be a caveat along such lines as the players remain with FFC for a min of 3 years, and a heafty fee of say 10 milion per player following 30/40 1st team appearances, and a large percentage of any selling on fee. Ok the big boys look at us as a feeder club, but if they wish to dine on our youth ,then let them pay Ritz prices.
Mentioning Chris David earlier made me think (wonder) whatâs happened to him? please log in to view this image When Chris signed from Twenty in January 2012, having narrowly missed coming the previous summer, Jol said, âHe is 19 years of age, player of the year of all the academies in Holland. He is an exciting talent but he will need at least six months to a year to adapt, but hopefully he will do it quicker. He is a very, very good talent. "People say Ajax were interested and I imagine there will have been other clubs who were interested in him. We are very happy to get him. Maybe you can remember there was a little worry with his medical check on the last day of the transfer window so we decided not to do it. "We took more time and that was a little problem for the boy because he couldn't play. First we have to get him fit and after that you will see he is an international player at all levels so I am very happy we have got him." Since then he became an established player in the U21 side and went with main squad on the Costa Rica tour. At the time he said, âGoing to Costa Rica was a great experience for me as it was the first time Iâd trained with the squad,â David told fulhamfc.com. âI had some minutes on the pitch with the First Team as well. Itâs a good start for me and Iâm getting fitter and fitter and hopefully this season will be my season.â âItâs been my dream and Iâm 20-years-old now so I think itâs the right moment to make my debut. But first I have to train hard and do well and then maybe I will get a chance this season. Weâve got a lot of big players here at Fulham. People like Brede Hangeland, Damien Duff, Steve Sidwell and Giorgos Karagounis, and I speak with them a lot. They are helping me with their experience, which is great. I talk to Karagounis a lot especially because heâs such a good midfielder.â The midfielder started this season as a regular in the U21 side and was on the bench at Leicester in the Capital One game, although he didnât feature. Six matches into the U21 season though he lost his place to Ronny Minkwitz and hasnât been able to get it back. I saw him a few times in those U21 games and the one against Newcastle summed him up for me - he wanted to be and do everything but achieved little. I suspect until he learns that positional sense and being a team player are requirements equal to enthusiasm he will not make that breakthrough he dreamt of.
Cottager Your last sentance on Criss David echoed my feelings,i feel he needs to be out on loan after Christmas to learn to play as a team member.
Thanks for the updates C58. Some of the lads certainly look like they have the potential. I'd love to see some of them playing for the first team.
