Our Dev squad finished third in the European U21 tournament following a 1-0 win over Stade Brestois, with Shilow Tracey scoring the winning goal Oluwayemi, Statham (R Clarke 43), Hinds, Oakley-Boothe, Okedina, Binks, Tracey (Etete 54), A Shashoua (Thorpe 54), Sterling, Maghoma, Markanday ...yeah, the OS really needs to arrange Dev squad lineups so people can work out who started in what position
SuperHotspur once again providing some in-depth coverage of our academy's fixtures vs Rennes: https://superhotspur.com/2019/07/26/spurs-under-21s-1-2-stade-rennais-match-report-2/ vs Strasbourg: https://superhotspur.com/2019/07/27/spurs-under-21s-2-0-rc-strasbourg-match-report/ vs Caen: https://superhotspur.com/2019/07/27/spurs-under-21s-2-1-sm-caen-match-report/ And, yes, his Shashoua love-in extends to Armando as well
He's not the only one: Michael Craig (but not his brother Matthew), Nile John, Tarrelle Whittaker, Dermi Musala, Marques Muir and whoever Scarlett is all make their debuts too
Three outfield subs? Are we a bit light at youth level at the moment or is there some reason for this?
I think we only name five subs anyway so we’re essentially just one short. Possibly a few injuries? It wouldn’t be Spurs otherwise! I’m not sure if there’s been any problems with us being able to use Yago Santiago yet either. He definitely signed for us as he posted in Spurs training gear but there’s nothing on the club site nor is he listed in the squad today (which you’d have expected). WindyCOYS also mentions there maybe some red tape with him at the moment.
I think Parrott is definitely in line for a good few 1st team appearances this season. The others have a few more ahead of them in their positions but I imagine there’s a good chance we’ll see them one or two times too.
It was clearly Sterling Goal Day yesterday. Kazaiah's still only 20, so I wonder if he could force his way into contention this season by performing in the U23s? We're very light up top now that Llorente's left, though it seems that Parrott's leapfrogged him in the queue.
One thing to point out is that, last season, Sterling had a squad number - but this season he hasn't been issued one, although his 50 shirt hasn't been claimed by anyone else
And none of them made the 18 for our first team. The U23s didn't need them, of course, but it still seems a bit odd.
Might be worth noting that Friday's U23 match against City is at the new stadium. Tickets are a fiver plus the booking fee (£1.50 or something?) and there are 9,999 tickets available. Looks like it's all in the lower tier of the North stand and a little bit next to it on either side.
Which is why their players started kicking lumps out of him in the second half, leading to him being subbed while holding his leg - and Tariq Hinds went off with a knock a short while afterwards
