That's a really great mix of players to illustrate what can happen to a youngster's career. Forecast basically became a punchline to a joke, purely because of Gareth Bale. O'Hara became a warning to avoid certain distractions in the game, something which one of our other ex-players should heed. Livermore showed what you can do if you put the effort in, while Taarabt showed the flip side of that coin, despite being immensely talented. Virtually all of the others have had some success in the lower leagues, showing that life's not over just because a Premier League side don't want you. Maghoma had to drop down to League Two with Burton Albion, but he's now playing for Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship, for example.
"Yeah, I can remember the locals kicking off about the stand being built, due to the lighting or something." Given I am quite "local" , I am still yet to understand what the specific complaints are. The area around the site is not heavily populated so light blight is not a big problem (and at worst only during autumn/winter when defoliation occurs on the big trees) .
Our U18s just beat The Other Lot 2-0: http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/u18-arsenal-away-report-171014/
With 10 men. I see a few names in there that played against Norwich in the U21 loss the other night. Probably glad to be playing and winning in their own age group.
We are taking a fringe squad to Hampton and Richmond FC on Tuesday evening of next week. It will be predominantly an under 21 side. Kick off at 7:45 for anyone who lives in that area.
There is an article in the Oct 17 Evening Standard, where Pochettino talks about the Academy (its current level, what his hopes are etc) .
This one? http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/foo...-as-many-stars-as-saints-academy-9801119.html Seems sensible and positive. He's being true to his word about giving them chances too, so far, with Mason being the most obvious to benefit.
The U21 side inflicted Chelsea's first defeat of the season on Monday night, though they may have been slightly under strength, as the likes of Ake and Christensen played against Shrewsbury last night. Emmanuel Sonupe scored the only goal of the game in the 89th minute. The U18s beat Reading 2-1 at the training ground on Saturday and the U17s won a competition at Arsenal's academy facilities, beating Leicester 3-0 in the final. Despite only managing a draw in their first game, a 2-2 draw with Palace, they went on to beat Juventus 2-1 in the next game, which was enough to progress. Leicester beat Real Madrid and the Goons to get through the other group, so it sounds like there was some decent opposition. please log in to view this image Nice to see the youngsters having some success, even if our first team aren't having any. Previous academy coach Chris Ramsey is being linked with joining the Spurs horde at QPR. They want him to continue the good work that he did with our youth side, apparently. Good luck to him, if he does join. Did well for us, I think.
There's apparently a lot of interest in our England U16 winger Keanan Bennetts. Luckily it's just between the England, Germany and Nigeria national teams and not our favourite team from Madrid: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...ttle-between-England-Germany-and-Nigeria.html
Spurs U18s 4, Academy of Hoof U18s 3: http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/u18s-west-ham-home-report-261114/ We were 4-1 up at one point, then remembered we're Tottenham so a game is not a game unless somebody watching it has soiled themselves thinking we're going to throw it away.
West Ham also sneaked past Millwall on penalties in the U21 cup that day. That tie had to be rearranged, as they were going to play it in the evening until someone worked out how utterly stupid that would be.
Kyle Walker makes his comeback for the under 21's this evening against Man City. Our side is captained by Bongani Khumalo........
Finished 2-1. Coulthirst made an appearance from his loan spell and got both of our goals in the first half. City pulled one back and then won a last minute penalty, which was saved. Hopefully everyone made it through without any complications.
