Its a bit of a surprise but I remember there was a similar outcry when Steve Heighway was sacked, Rafa wanted to bring in his own men so maybe Brenda wants to do that now.
This doesn't look like an underachievement issue at all to me. I think the misconduct guess is nearer the mark. Maybe a bit of tapping up as suggested.
****ing hell Bit of an extreme reaction there Jenners lad. I know the reason now, but I'm only going to tell the others
Sorry lads, I'm not going to be around on here much longer as I've been offered a pretty cushty job training some youngsters up in Liverpool
Just texted my mate and he's texted back. He said "Just a revamp. You haven't exactly produced any PL regulars". I replied that there were still some good prospects loitering around and he replied "Not as many as there should be though". There may be more to it, but he doesn't seem to think so.
Yep, this. BR told me he wanted to put a bit more of his own stamp on things and that I would be his "wing man" in the youth setup
Furry muff. Although it seems a bit odd that that explanation wasn't given up front. Perhaps it'll come out in a day or two. As long as we have some adequate replacements then fine.
sorry rhc, my little one is waking me up at 4:30 am every ruddy morning, lack of sleep is making me a grumpy ****er lol.
Wow - that is quite ruthless IMO. We have prospects in the likes of Sterling, Suso, Wisdom, Ibe etc - they need time to develop and who's to say they won't become top class players in the future? And sacking them is a bit extreme?? We brought in Neil Critchley and Alex Inglethorpe as well - both highly rated so I have faith in the replacements that FSG/Rodgers will want to bring in. could this also lead to the potential appointment of a Sporting Director?
No worries mate. No offence taken. You know what I'm like As you'll know from the forum, I have two beautiful daughters who are grown women now. Neither of the little twats slept through until they were 4, so I have every ****ing sympathy for you
Technically we bought all 4. Wisdom from Bradford, Ibe from Wycombe, Sterling from QPR and Suso from Cadiz ... But youth development isn't purely about finding local talent, signing them for free and developing them. We spend millions on the academy so we can source the best talents from across the globe, at a small cost. It's not our fault the local area is devoid of talented youngsters.
Fair enough - and you're right, it could be a reason for their dismissal. Personally, I just don't think it's a valid reason to dismiss them.
I agree, the Academy people were doing well getting talented youngsters in and if you add Flanagan and Kelly to the list along with Morgan and Robinson there are kids with potential in the group. I think this is a big risk as Borrell and McParland were doing a good job. There are others who also look very good imo we haven't had such a talented bunch in many, many years and we've just sacked the people responsible.
