Taarabt's too ambitious for us. Not sure he deserves the loyalty of his fan club on here either. He's gone, he ain't coming back. Don't know whether the club should cash in now or wait till the end of the season but given his erratic form and love of shisha maybe strike while the iron's hot. Spurs get 40%.
I'm a fan of exceptional talent and entertainment. It's so rare to get that nowadays at QPR, its no wonder we go on about him so much, especially with his downsides thrown in. Post a link to this 40% stuff. I think its urban myth (though typical of Levy).
I wouldn't take under 15mill. I'd turn his ego back on him. He has 2 years of his contract to go. I'd tell him we recognise what an outstanding player he is and we want a fair price. He is free to talk to other clubs but it's important he plays for us to present himself in that shop window. He can waste away or get his dream move but the price must be right. 5 mill is ridiculous!
Although Im not his greatest fan I do still acknowledge his talent. 5 Mill is no where near enough for him IMHO, and he's proving his worth right now. Take 8-10 Mill now and sell ASAP before he has the risk of imploding again..
The price has gone up to £6 million now (according to the mail). At this rate he'll be paying for the new stadium.
SB, here is a link that mentions the 40% when he was gonna go to PSG: http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/222412/Rangers-set-to-sell-Adel-Taarabt And a direct quote from Adel following a failed offer from Newcastle: âI helped QPR win promotion but they will not offer me a better contract,â âThey say I am already on big wages.â âItâs a lot of money because I have not been successful yet in the Premier League,ââ âBut when Rangers sell me, they have to give 40 per cent of the fee to Tottenham, my first club.â
In 5 years time we'll be saying, "what was the name of that fat Moroccan who was quite good about 8 years ago"
Can you explain what you expect by loyalty? And tell me what player would be any more loayl than Taarabt? Mackie a top pro but average footballer. He is no more loyal than Adel as he done a runner. If he was loyal shouldn’t he have stayed and fought for his place to prove the manager wrong? When Mackie turns up in a few weeks I hope you single him out for criticism as being disloyal (otherwise your being hypocritical) Adel felt he was too good for the Championship having proved that 4 years ago and he needed to be playing at a higher level as he is now (Serie A, Champions League and keeping Kaka out the team). He’s a professional football player and owes us nothing. He’s gone on to join AC Milan and left a team that’s in a mess in the Championship. In what way was that the wrong decision by him? Bet you cant name a single player in our team who wouldn’t have left to join a team in the premiership at the start of this season if offered the chance and had a realistic chance of playing? The loyal Adel ‘fan club’ were smart enough to realise a happy Adel would have got us promoted. Think about it. A team capable of keeping it tight at he back. Add Adel and manage him right and keep him happy make him feel like the main player you’ve got guaranteed goals Rest of this thread is pointless as the loan probably had an option to buy and pre-agreed fee put in
5 million seems very low considering the figures that have been spoken about in the past...and that was before he did well at Milan.
For a change i totally agree with you mate. he wanted out & Im sure others would have done the same if offered the chance. the only part i will pick up on is the highlighted. Whilst ou are possibly correct, the fact is he was never going to be happy with us; and therefore by your own point, was never going to score the goals he did previously. Now whether that is down to miss-management, adel attitude, his advisors etc is a diffrent issue, but i think we can all agree that he wanted out for one reason or another. To his credit he's decided to prove a few wrong. lets hope it lasts until we at least get paid for him
Couple this sale with the anticipated sale of Remy and we're looking at £20 million plus to rebuild our squad with. With the way Remy's playing we should be accepting no less than £15 million for a player guaranteed to score 10 plus league goals in the Prem and even more so if he goes to the World Cup. I hope Taarabt delays showing his lazy, disinterested side of his character so we can milk some money out of his sale. With this money recouped I'd say its happy days provided we've got the right man in the job to spend it wisely.
