weve kept a clean sheet - a statement that I think says more about AC Milan than us. Regardless, massive, massive result.
That's how I want to see Arsenal play. Attacked as a team, defended as a team, quick transitions in play. Fought for the ball, technically good but physically strong. Tactically very clever, no naive open play, chose moments to go forward, held possession when needed and a good shape. All round very good performance. Exactly what you want from a European away game. Individual good performances but more importantly a very good team performance. Great to see Wenger stopping players and telling them what he wants from them. Professional, passionate, effective. More of the same in the next fixture please. And more of the same for the rest of the season. This team with Bellerin and Aubameyang switched in for chambers and Welbeck I think is our best team currently. I like the formation and tactics today. Given ourselves a great chance to progress to the QF and hopefully some belief for the players and fans that we can go all the way.
0-2 brilliant result and fully deserved. Credit to the players tonight, because they were really good in all depts. They've deserved the criticism, they also deserve the praise when they get it right
Just what the Doctor ordered, brilliant result against a very underwhelming Milan side. Let's carry this through and get some of the mojo back!
Admittedly Milan played poorly but recent form suggested it would be a tough one .They were unbeaten in 13 before tonight with only 6 goals conceded from 8 matches.
My goodness, I was looking at the Milan team when they beat us 4-0 back in 2012, and their squad looked very impressive back then. Look at these players: Mark van Bommel Philippe Mexes Clarence Seedorf Zlatan Thiago Silva Robinho Pato Alessandro Nesta Stephan El Shaarawy wow, arguably fallen off much more than we have.
Totally get what your saying and I was shocked at how average this supposed new improved Milan side played...in fact they reminded me of us! Anyway, it's only one game, but it does show what we can do when the WHOLE team is on point.
Milan were poor, but take nothing away from our players tonight. They were really good all over the pitch. Very disciplined, lots of communication, all did their jobs properly and showed real commitment.
This is what frustrates the living daylight out of us all though....why can't we play like this 99% of the time. Something is really amiss with our diabolical inconsistency.
Have always been a fan of Italian football. Can't help but feel bad for them really. Happy we won but I don't really have any kind of angst towards them and Gattuso.
Well to be fair that is is true for Italian football in General. Aside from Juve the teams in that league just dont look all that strong anymore.
Good news and bad news. Good news is Dortmund lost their home leg 2-1 against Salzburg. Bad news is that Atletico are looking very strong, having seen off Moskow 3-0. Not looking forward to a reunion with Costa any time soon.
Well, we have been consistently **** recently. So this is a welcome result. I hope this gives the players a platform to build on, the so badly needed this result tonight
Great result. First half performance was excellent. Played really well. Second half less soo but still managed to defend better than we have in recent matches.
Make no mistake, this was a HUGE game for Arsenal tonight. If we'd have lost this game badly, then the season would have been over. It would have probably been the end for Wenger and some of the players. They absolutely had to get a result tonight and credit where it's due, they stepped up when it really counted
