eah, just ignore the ridiculous lunge and the forcing off-track which was really another attempt at an overtake or double DNF. Stewards have called it right.
The difference between ****s here is wolf would have got off the pit wall and stride down to masi and threaten him off camera and off mike to get his way (and did) While horner is sat on the wall talking politely and been given the political line by masi.
I think Hamilton 'got away with it' because it was a lunge from Verstappen. A crash or be passed kinda move.
Course it's a lunge and hamilton has.done exactly what he did in other races but just avoid it but he has then clearly taken more than he needed to to get back on track and effect too the entire corner out and ended up massively ahead Clearly a massive advantage. In the end as I said yesterday verstappen tyres already over heated and gone. This is absolutely over. Even with 2 stops and changing like made Hamilton will now go long and win by 30 seconds imo
Hes another who should have been ringing up f1 owners and threatening the entire show. Weak knees lol.
Shame to see the race basically over on lap 1. No coming back from here for Max. Ultimately i do agree with the stewards though. Verstappen only has himself to blame for bottling the start.
It's not bad right now but I cannot see verstappen getting ahead of leclerc and norris let alone sainz on first pits stop. I think they are all on softs though. Verstappen needs clear air to chase hamilton down twice Race over season over.
At first view I thought Lewis would have to give it back, probably as of Brundle calling it so clear cut. After seeing the onboards I think Max was only where he was as of the lunge. If he tried to take the corner with more control and leave space there is no way he is getting past. I think the giving the advantage back is also taking into account Max's opportunistic position at the corner given he lunged. Had he not and driven properly then yeah, Lewis gave the actual gained advantage back, it just looked worse as Max was closer than he should have been had he not lunged. It's also consistent with Lewis getting warned last race for pushing Max wide at least!
The stewards knew what Max was trying to do, and awarding him with a place for trying to put his opponent out was not going to be an option.
On the replay it's fairly obvious that hamilton has turned further right not gone straight on when off the track. He has made a call here to not only get out of it but has turned his wheel to go further off and take the corner complete out and has a lasting advantage of over a second. I'm fairly sure someone will appeal. I can understand the stewards saying you are a big boy verstappen and you knew what you were at but hamilton took far more than he needed to there and gained a serious advantage that wasnt given back. Sainz is the target here.
