Glad you're keeping it topical with me nin.
Just been reading about his sad passing.
A huge influence on the blues in the UK and it's incredible to think of all the big names that were in or around the Bluesbreakers.
I used to go and see him fairly regularly in Bridgend in the late 60's when Ainsley Dunbar was drumming for him. I actually got offered a "job" as a drum roady for them!

Lucky you Clingo to have seen him play live. As a teenager growing up in Belfast I didn't get the chance to see some of the best blues bands. But I remember myself and my mates listening to him on our record player. A true blues legend.

Feel bad that I missed his birthday by three days. He'd have been 83 on the Monday just past. Instead we lost him at just 26.
I have many musical heroes but he was far and away my main man.

Irish, it's only just dawned on me that another great blues guitarist came from your own city of Belfast. Of course, I'm talking about the late, great Gary Moore.
So today we’ve lost a giant of country music. Actor, singer, musician but most of all the writer of some of the best ever country songs. RIP Kris

They did have a massive earthquake here in 1953. Zante is on a fault line heading out from mainland Greece.

An interesting back story, with a few strings to his bow.
Some random meme popped up on Facebook last night and the riff really got me, so I investigated and discovered a 80s band that I’d never heard of before. A bit more research (Wikipedia) taught me that they were from East London called The Outfield but they never made it here because their ‘melodic rock’ genre has never been overly popular here in the UK. However, the album this track is from went platinum in the States - which figures because it sounds like typical 1980’s US Rock - which people either love or hate. I happen to love it.
I think the lead singer sounds like Sting - and they are a 3-piece band too (with ‘guest’ members) just like the Police were.
Unfortunately their popularity faded and they ended up back in the UK playing pub gigs in the East End of London where they started. Sadly, the lead singer died in 2014 and another band member has also since died.
This is the song that got my attention - and it’s also their signature tune:
Proper 80s rock - crank it up, put the roof of the car down, shades on, mullet groomed and fixed in place with hairspray- and cruise along the boulevard in the sun by the sea……..

Ive checked out their first 2 albums and they’re pretty good (if you like the genre of course- which I do!)

It's funny how bands go elsewhere to find fame.
The same happened with Bush. Formed in Sheppards Bush, they didn't make it in the UK, but we're one of the most successful bands of the 90s in the US. Not my cup of tea, but a similar story.
Might have a listen to the Outfield. I'm OK with a bit of easy listening.
