Just reading about the death of Spencer Davis. Heard about it a week ago but was discussing it with mt Mrs. Didn't realise he was a Jack.
Gimme some lovin' is a classic and contributes to a superb film in the form of the Blues Brothers.
He had some career.

Yes. Sad loss. His band also launched the career of Steve Winwood of course.

He mixed it with a few of the best.

His brother Muff seemed to disappear after SDG though.

Always interests me how musicians paths cross or parallel each other.
In this case, while Winwood was playing with these musicians, Davis was managing, developing, promoting their careers.

In the mid 90s he created a couple 'super groups' including one with Randy Meisner of Eagles fame (one of my favourite bands).

Last I heard of Mervyn (Muff) he was doing some independendent A&R work. Of course, he had some wonderful years doing the same at Island, Sony and CBS signing some big names. I met him once in the 80's when my band was on the same bill as a then unknown Terence Trent D'Arby. Unfortunately, Muff was there to see him and not us - hardly surprising I promise you!
