To add to that I cannot see any way he won't get one TBH. He is consistantly in his nations national team.

Unless wiki is completely wrong this is not the cap record of someone who is consistently in his national team.

So, Abel Hernandez......

To be fair, nowt has happened for a few hours.

The work permit situation will be fine, Brucey wouldn't have bothered with him if he felt it might be a problem.

Expect to see him hold the no.9 shirt at some point tomorrow. At a guess, dinnertime-ish.

His work permit might not be a sure thing. Pretty sure there is a requirement of playing in 75% of your national teams games during the previous year which he has not done. He has only played in 4 games in the last 2 years.
Really?I thought he had played more.

I would imagine that the club would be sure he'd get a work permit to have got this far on with proceedings

TBH Wiki can very easily be very wrong but I guess we will soon see.

You can file an appeal for a bunch of reasons. His record in Italy and his drawing attention from quite a few large clubs could be grounds for an appeal. On his national team record he will probably be denied his work permit. We have had this happen before and won the appeal. Pretty sure that Gedo came over after winning his appeal.

You're right, he looks to have been flown out by the club, those sort of background checks are normally all in place when something moves this fast. Kept very under the radar, imagine it's been on the cards for a while.

Aren't there a few ways to be accepted for a permit? The % of international games is just one option. As Macca as said, I don't think Brucie would have bothered if we'd struggle to get a work permit.

When/if he signs (along with the RB)... does anybody think there is another signing lined up? Maybe using one/both the loan spots?

I think a midfielder is needed to cover the Snodgrass injury. Tbh though... I think we are strong enough.

Never know, we might see another striker on loan ;)

Night.

Bruce said in his Lokeren Presser that he's close to 2. Assuming the one he was very close to is Hernandez he said the second one was a really great acquisition

Just found this on a sports lawyers's website: "There are some issues to consider here. Firstly, the 75% rule means that a player must have played in 75% of games of which he has been available for selection. If a player has been injured, this will be taken into consideration when assessing the application and the applicant must provide evidence of the extent and length of the injury and impact on their playing prospects. Suspensions will also be taken into consideration in the same way. To be considered to have ‘played’ in 75% of games, the player needs only to have been selected for the squad."

The only have to be in the squad, not get on the pitch is interesting, also the fact that games missed through injury do not count.

I found this. Ill look a bit more.

Under current rules, any player from the European Union does not require a work permit, which covers the vast majority of incoming foreigners.

But those from outside of the EU need to have played 75 per cent of competitive matches for their national team before being accepted as an outstanding talent that would benefit English football. And their national team must be ranked in the top 70 in the world.

However, some players are admitted on appeal, despite not having fulfilled those criteria.

Same thing I found. Wikipedia doesnt show making the squad only if you get on the pitch. He could very well have been in 100% of the squads and simply not been put on the pitch.

I thought the great acquisition was talking about Hernandez.

Hopefully you're right and he meant somebody else on top of Hernandez.

I think it's the other way mate.

Bruce said a few things are in place and making progress, particularly on one that is really close and he will keep his mouth shut until it's all signed off/complete, a journo then asked whether its a defender, midfielder or striker. Bruce then said it's a striker so it's deffo Hernandez he is referring too.

So I think it will be a midfielder (the other one).
