I read somewhere this morning that Bruce said he could be the next Suarez......... hope that doesn't mean he is going to start biting everyone.... I am interested to see what type of player he is, know nothing about him. He is supposed to be pacey thats all i know.
You really don't understand football do you? Or more importantly, the jobs a striker has to do! When we have the ball the striker has several jobs: 1- score goals, 2- creating space for other players & 3- create opportunities for teammates to score When we don't have the ball, his first and most important job is to harass defenders, closing them down and forcing them in to errors. The striker(s) need to be the very first line of defence. In my opinion, Shane Long was exceptionally good at this. He was a pain in the arse for opposition defenders in most games he played in.
Never said that, I think he was great. However, I do believe that strikers are judged on their worth of their abilities to score goals just like a defender preventing them.
Aaron mclean work hard ran abount and harrased defenders so did craig ***an does that make them great strikers. My point is not that long didnt chase or even played well its we dont normally have a lot of cash to spend so if we spend 7 mill on a striker we need someone who will score goals unless we have a prolific striker playing with him ...
It's the Premier League, we simply need a striker that makes us competitive and can score around ten goals a season. 20 goal a season strikers are generally the preserve of the top 4 or 5 teams.
I'm not saying anything about Abel H until I've seen him play. I've only seen Youtube clips (like most on here I suppose) Big chance for the lad so hope he delivers Pace is MASSIVELY important though in the PL - we know he has that
Judging a Premier League striker on if he scores 20 goals is stupid considering only two strikers scored 20 goals season. Does that make every other striker a failure? If a forward for us scores 10 goals in the league it's a very good season. Long scored 4 in 15 for us, that would of worked just over 10 goals in every 38 games. Jelavic has 6 in 19. I'm sure everyone can do the maths on that one.
I think AH was always going to start on the bench, so I'll be surprised if it's anything other than a half hour cameo at the end, even if we play ****.
Sky are still reporting that his visa has not come through and will not feature on Monday. Who do we believe? Hopefully Burnsy is right.
