Roy Orbison is IMO one of the greatest popular music singers of the 20th Century. Elvis was way more popular and sold more records, but Orbinson had really good tonal accuracy and such a wide vocal range. Technically, Orbison was an excellent singer.
Prince on guitar, of course it's better than the original. He'd have sung it better and drummed it better too.
It’s a great song; and if you know anything about guitar playing, the original solo by Clapton is a masterpiece. Very difficult to hit the exact note in that solo unless you are a master of bending the strings.
About 4 years ago I discovered that the song I thought was my favourite Beatles song actually had nothing to do with the Beatles. "Smile a little smile for me"... Grew up thinking it was the Beatles but it's really by Flying Machine.
I have a very diverse taste in music and all are different: Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack, Elvis and Buddy Holly, Bowie, TRex and Roxy Music, Beatles Nirvana Stones Pink Floyd Who Led Zeppelin I couldn’t say which are better than the others, as to Beatles and ABBA both had great and poor songs - it’s about personal taste
If anything is deserving of a ban then you just maybe pushed that line a little bit further than you should have! Might or might not see you tomorrow mate
Great voice. Sad to say, I've got a great Deano christmas cd that gets played the **** out of it every Christmas!
Dean has a better voice and can actually be on key most of the time... But despite that, I actually prefer Sinatra to Dean Martin. I prefer Nat King Cole to both of them though.
My mum loved Roy ... as a kid I used to play her "Rainbow" song over and over on our old Delta record player ... "It's Over" ... still raises goosebumps to this day ... Elvis Presley once said that Roy had the best voice he had ever heard ... fitting praise ... Tom Petty said "Roy called me Tommy ... nobody calls me Tommy" ... says it all ..
Absolutely. I can't stand prog rock or heavy metal but you can't deny that some of its exponents were supremely talented.
