Got to agree with this. I think Ramsey would be a £25m player if he had 3 years left on his contract. As it is we just need to see what we can get for him in Jan and hopefully sell him abroad. Anything between £10m-£15m would be worth taking imo.
I remember the articles/rumours about this at the time. Cannot be arsed to look for the source though The Metro mentions it it todays article.. https://www.metro.news/aaron-ramsey-free-to-go-as-contract-offer-is-torn-up-by-arsenal/1244538/ You guys are behind with the times. Plenty of Clubs would pay £40m + for Ramsey. He's 27 - still to peak, captain of his country. The current market.. Riyad Mahrez is worth £60million? Morata is worth £70 million? Fred is worth £55million? Richarlison is worth £50million? Kepa £71million? Bakayaoko £45 million? Mendy £54million, Thomas Lemar £60 million, Chamberlain £35million?? ... based on that Ramsey is worth at least £40million. (If.. he had'nt run down his contract that is)
This is purely hypothetical - I know I'm not his biggest fan and think he's quite overrated, but if Ramsey still had 2-3 years left on his contract, we could easily command £40m-£50m for him if we wanted to cash in. £25m would be paltry. He's been at a big club for the last 10 years, won three FA cups with us, scored two cup final winning goals, been pretty much a guaranteed starter for us for the last 7 years (when fit), he's made over 300 appearances at the highest level, won our Player of the Season 2 times in the last 5 years, captains his national team and has got a very respectable amount of goals/assists from central midfield since 2013. He's still only 27 as well. There would be absolutely no shortage of suitors for a player that has, on paper, contributed that much to a top-six Premier League side over the last decade and is that young. If Danny Drinkwater can command a £35m fee, we could easily ask for in excess of £40m for Ramsey if he had a few years remaining on his contract. Unfortunately, with under a year left on his deal, we'd be lucky to get more than £15m for him.
Thus why was I slated for saying I'd take 10'ish mill for him in Jan? We are talking AFC too remember!
Just because we may get offered £10m, it doesn't mean we should take it. I personally wouldn't. Unless we're opting to go for a promising youth player, £10m will get us bugger all. I still think unless we get offers in the £20m region (highly unlikely), we may as well keep him until the end of the season. And to be fair, most reports are saying we're in no rush to sell him in January.
Unless we can convince each of the Manchester clubs that the other Manchester club is interested in him
Also: Rumours circulating that Emery was in fact the one who decided to withdraw the contract offer. Apparently he thought that money could be better used to improve the squad in other areas.
To be honest I smell bullshit inspired by Ramsey's Agent that clubs were in for him. Proof would indicate that there were no real rumours and we know when clubs are interested in our players! The fact is he is good but not good enough for the best clubs and he's too expensive for mid table clubs that would be interested in him. Ramsey and Agent priced themselves out and we called their bluff. The last few players that were real performers for us were chased after by top clubs and we knew everything about it. We knew what happened to the last great English hope Wilshere, we struggled to get rid of him on a free. When the fog of bullshit clears we know what the real deal is.
If we sell Ramsey - I hope its not to Liverpool. I can see Klopp being the right man to get the best out of him. I also think he would suit their style of play.
Wouldn't get anywhere near their first XI, let alone any of the other top six or so clubs and therefore won't get developed anyway. Will go somewhere like Everton, Bournemouth or West Ham.
I suspect he will leave to a club outside the U.K. Milan? Juventus (they love free transfers! Mautudi getting old.)
Sanchez wants out of United. Swap deal for Ramsey? Would we take him back at Arsenal? ------------------Ozil----------------------- Sanchez-----Laca------Aubameyang Have to admit - that's a pretty tasty forward line.
No I'm good on Sanchez. I think we should be targeting a young pure winger or wing forward. Pavon or Martial maybe. Sanchez is not the character this squad needs in my opinion. He will work hard but I can see issues happening in the background
