You can only beat what is put in front of you....and teams will set themselves up against us to be difficult to beat, thats what makes it tough.....

Brum set up as 4-5-1 and played a high line.......they had 2 huge centre halves who won everything in the air and swamped the mid field so made it very difficult to break them down......

I expect Brighton to do the same on Wednesday and Yeovil on Saturday....

There's a bit of a paradox with this league and its important to distinguish the two statements you make from each other.

On the one hand I believe it is very much a tough league. Lots of Clubs go down and spend years trying to get back up. It took us 15 the last time. Other decent-sized Clubs never even manage to scramble up in the first place. The teams are very well-organised, tough, hard to breakdown and are in your face from start to finish. In short, they can make life very difficult for you.

On the other hand you are right - the standard is poor. Very poor. Dreadful at times. A good team would take a lot of these sides apart but there aren't any "good" teams in this division because if they were "good", they wouldn't be here. And therein lies the paradox.

I've just noticed Judo, as ever, got it spot on in his reply to you already. He summed it up more concisely than I did.

Swords, we have 16 points out of 18 without even beginning to play well. We are a 'good' team in the making and with the new additions, and a new formation, we will storm this league.

I really really hope so mate. I'm just terrified of such confidence/cockiness. It always blows up in your face in football!

The quality is much lower than the premiership, but the requirements of success are so much higher (in terms of points/position).

What's harder to achieve, being one of the two best teams in the championship, or being the 4th worst side in the premiership? The reward is the same- top tier football, and i'd say they're probably similarly hard to achieve.

The attritional grinding nature of 46 games in a very physical league means finishing in the automatics is no mean feat. It's a tough league to get promoted from!

    Thanks Judo.

I couldnt find a stream for the game but ended up listening in whilst watching Arsenal !!

General opinion sounds like they should have got a point but we ground oyut a result. I'd be happy if we did that all season tbh

Think Brighton may be tough, but as long as we keep winning our home games we should be good. Totally agree with what Eamon says...much more to come. <ok>

Happy to accept winning ugly or luckily as long as winning, being hard to beat & sneaking wins is half the battle.

Definitely feel there's some better performances around the corning particularly when the new guys are up to speed. Zamora seems to be the one constant weak link & probably should have had an Op in the summer & now not doing anyone any favours. Hopefully we'll be getting another striker in on loan very soon.

Think we have the potential to be a good team but don't see anyone storming this league & we're only an injury/suspension or two away from problems. As long as can win majority of home games & keep picking up points away then we won't be far off.

We are building a nice little gap for ourselves which is important, so when we do lose ( which obviously we will ) we won't drop out of top 4. Personally i can't see us dropping out of the top 4 now for the rest of the season. Quite suprised at Wigan as i thought they would be up there. Also it will get to the stage where some of the top teams will have to try and beat us, we might see a more open game then. These poor sides will be looking for a draw against us and only huddersfield have managed that so far.

Points in the bank,so so important.
