Im sure he stepped in when Adamson left.
Talking about Adamson...the Sunderland board had a choice between him and Brian Clough if my memory is correct. And guess who they chose?
And we all know what Clough did over the next 2 seasons lol. We have always made massive errors at board level. Comical really.

I remember back then i was around 9 years old and i used to wait for the evening chronicle getting put through the letterbox and i used to lie on the floor and read all about the board choosing between Adamson and Clough. Those were the days...long long before mobile phones, internet and sky sports news!

Dick advacart who I forgot about the other day about managers Short has sacked or walked out, O Neil, bruce, Poyet, Di canio, Moyes, big Sam, and next Monday Grayson so 8 in total ! and how many contracts are still being paid out/off ?.
I actually liked Jimmy Adamson and Alan Durban best half season I can ever remember was under Adamson, so bloody close.
