Just watched the Sky coverage of the championship and the experts all agreed that the key to recent good results for those teams down the bottom and others in the league are due to GOOD LOAN SIGNINGS in the recent emergency loans window.
It is beyond my comprehension that Ponders,Vol and others dont see that the fact that SCP was not allowed to sign a goal scorer in that window was like asking a boxer to fight with one hand tied behind his back. With any other manager we would be 10 points adrift at the bottom with the resources he has been given.

I wonder how the managerial debate would be going if we had, say, Neil Warnock in charge and were playing the same brand of football?

I just believe it has become the lazy, easy option to blame the Manager. Without the tools you can't do the job.

The whole debate is becoming too polarised. The Doctor is trying to manage under very difficult circumstances, but there aspects of our style of play which should be under discussion without it becoming a Powell Out debate.

Isn't Sordell both a LOAN SIGNING and a STRIKER ?

The majority of us were happy when Sordell signed. But there is no denying that so far it has been a disaster - though you can still probably count the number of chances created for him on one hand.

I didn't have any views on him, never having seen him. Was anyone pleased with his signing based on what they'd seen? Just that I keep reading that we were all pleased when we signed him. Were We?

The number of chances created for a striker that doesn't create space and moves with the alacrity of Sam Bartram's statue will always be few. He may have a use in narrowing the aperture of the goal mouth. If it is true that we can return him in January then we have 25 days left before we can get someone in. I have seen poor players, arrogant players, lazy players, unfit players and uncommitted players over the years but rarely have we had the full house we have here. He should take his power shakes back to Bolton where they can bear the cost of the remainder of his playing career.

You may have guessed I am a little unimpressed and wasn't impressed on his loan either. That we lost Haynes, who although he had plasticine ham strings was committed and to a lesser extent Fuller, who was beginning to work, struck me that the financial situation was poor, but to sign a non contributor of this nature was financial foolishness. We will only learn after the event as to whether CP made the choice or had it foist upon him, but it appears the worst decision of his management career.

However, many other good managers have made disastrous signings but have, in most cases, had the money to spend on others who will cover for their mistakes.

I have not changed my overall view of CP in that I believe he is an embryonic great manager and one which we should continue to nurture, but Sordell will always rankle.

Teams need to evolve.A bit of fresh blood in the emergency window would have seen us in mid table by now.
SCP is an embryonic great manager as FHB says
