I was living in Turkey at the time of those murders - very scary period to be English nevermind Leeds.. Nobody deserves to get killed in sports.. but I will say this.. I saw plenty of coverage of the Leeds supporters in Istanbul and they were OTT in terms of abusing local taboos.. if you know anything about Turkish culture, you don't go debasing the Turkish flag and hope they'll laugh it off.. it's actually a CRIME under Turkish law to deface the flag, Ataturk and "Turkishness"... so a good kicking would have been about right but not murder of course. The Leeds fans were pissed and just looking for trouble, but they were totally unprepared for the repercussions.. did they not know about the knife culture in Turkey?, you don't see it in normal life there but in football you have to show respect.. It was very sad and could have been avoided with some common sense.
yeah and Millwall unfurling that Turkish flag at Elland Road a couple of seasons back was bad taste too.
I certainly do not justify anything like that, but your guys set the scene 32yrs before Turkey - time for closure and to let the football do the talking!
Try reading my words again Fez,and ask yourself if you think that reply wasn't just a touch heavy man ! Football rivalry is about football. Idiot !
I read your words, you were wrong; you could of achieved the same with the truth. Fool! Edit: With hindsight I will let you off as you define yourself as a clumsy person (Klutz), so it's to be expected! Like you say "Football rivalry is about football", so like I say "Let the football do the talking". Final whistle, Klutz!
They apparently turned up at Istanbul Airport waggling knives when the flight carrying Leeds fans came in. Suggests to me that they were intent the on killing as soon as they drew Leeds, knowing that it would do their reputation as thick cowards no end of good.
It would be completely out of order, if it were not for the fact that you just completely made it up.
Just like the Hull people to bury their heads in the sand i work with with some Hull City fans and they were bragging about singing about the Leeds fans loss of life in Turkey. You have a section of fans who are just evil just like many other clubs have including Leeds but you lot just wont admit to it.
I've been at every game we've played against Leeds since Turkey and I've never heard any such chanting, your work mates were probably just winding you up, due to you being a complete dipshit.
How did you manage to make otherwise indifferent Leeds fans feel compelled to hate a team that means '**** all' to them?
