Agree with most of those except Matthew Rose who was actually a CB and when he first arrived & played in the correct position he looked quite good. Always played out of positin and suffered the QPR "suddenly becoming crap"curse.

I dont understand the point you are making mate?

In our Championship promotion season I actually opened a Bet365 account for their video streams and was happy to discover that they covered a good number of our games, likely due to our high league position.

Point I'm making Queens is look at all those wasted wages and transfer fees in those seasons before we got back to the PL. If we'd not gone down we would have never had any of those crap players.

I also forgot - Brett Angell, how could I forget him?!?!

I think Sword's got the motivation behind SR's OP right when he talked about compensatory psychology or words to that effect.

No football fan craves relegation, not even SR on a bender - but as it becomes more and more inevitable we have to adjust the mindset to the new reality no matter how depressing that may be. The normally highly optimistic Nines is noticeably far less so these days and is clearly going through the same process in his own way. I think most of us are.

Notice also the big anti comments on this thread are coming from those who won't get to see their team play so much in the NPC. Have to sympathise with them in this regard but even those of us based in London will lose the streaming of the away games we can't get to.

No, none of us want to be relegated for practical reasons as well as pride. Fact is though, we've 13 games to go, need at least 24 points to have much chance of safety, little chance of scoring goals and whilst some say our main rivals are dross, they're scoring goals and points on a reg.

Dunno when Merlin's likely to intervene to save us but needs to be sooner rather than later...

Meantime, I've every sympathy for those of us gritting our teeth right now. Those doubting the realists are simply in some kind of denial which at the end of the day is just another way of coping with what's been for all of us a massive disappointment.

Have to say SR's point about refinding our identify strikes a chord with me anyways. So fed up with our club being the funny farm of the prem. None of the other recently promoted clubs have had to put up with the farce we've had to endure with all the blank firing big names. Time to get our kudos back surely.

Ok Brix, I'm not doubting what seems to be the inevitable but I in no way see going down as a positive move for us.

I'm almost resigned to the fact that we're gonna go and I hate every second of it. For me its not about redifing our identity, getting rid of MH trash etc Its about seeing the team I have followed all my life and been a ST holder for 20yrs, compete against the best in the country and hold our own. We're clearly not doing that at present, but we are improving fast.
If we go down it could/ would be disasterous for the players involved and the new found optimism around the club. TF would be gutted and i think a lot of our players would go.
So what then? We start all over again and get promoted in1-5 years time. then we rebuild the team ALA MH and do this all again? The circus then starts all over again and we can al have these same conversations in 5 years time?
NO NO NO...We are here and we should stay here regardless... I STILL cannot see ANY positives in us going down, regardless of the fact that we probably will.

    thats my opinion anyway

    Just no.

Faced with adversity, it's prudent to plan for the worst and TF will have done this (eg Samba's reduced wages and Remy's transfer). I'll leave that planning to them.

All I will say is it would be a bigger gamble trying to get back up next year as a one off event than surviving this year and the upheaval will make our recent revolution look like a kids' picnic.

As far as I can see, it's just some of our fans that think relegation is a foregone conclusion.

I, for one, cannot subscribe to this and hope the players have more fight and belief than this.

Nobody is relegated at this stage and we're no exception and I struggle to see the appeal of football if you're this "realistic" with so much to play for.

If a team that has played Spurs, Chelsea and City in the same month and come out undefeated can't inspire the smallest amount of hope that staying up is possible then I don't know what will.

It's not going to go our way every week but more weeks than not have done so.

One game (undefeated again) against a bogey side and we're done for?

    Man up FFS.

We've got the best 2nd league in the World. I don't think you need to slag it off so much. You enjoyed our promotion season, right? Or was that not high enough quality for your refined taste?

    THIS
with about the same amount of games last season everyone was all doom and gloom
    look how that ended
things don't look good but the only guarantee with the championship is that its a hard league to get out of
    17th again is not impossible
the rugger buggers laugh at me now,,be a nightmare when we play teams they have never heard of

admit to being a reality denier but if we go down I wont get to see QPR until they get back up(they don't do the lower leagues here)
the first 8 years I was here the only time I got to see QPR was when they were fighting the Chinese

we aint too good to go down and we probably aint good enough to get back up straight away

Mate i enjoyed our promotion season immensly purely because I'd spent the previous 14 seasons travelling to crap grounds in cities that should have been demolished.
The football was mostly crap and if you are gonna tell me that an away loss at port vale ( or something similar) is good football, then i think you need to re-asses your own view of "refined" football.
If you enjoyed watching the players that Stamford listed earlier, then i would suggest we have very diffrent tastes in football & I dont see us agreeing on this one.
Of course the promotion season was great and it wa mainly because we all got to follow the "Tarrabt, Ali & Derry Show"!! Unfortunately I had just emigrated so i cant even be accused of being a "fair weather supporter" or Glory hunter. Apart from that we didnt always play good football every week.

I remember when we went down in 79 and thinking we'd come straight back up and having the dream shattered in August when we lost 4-1 at home to Leicester, you end up feeling 10 times worse because the expectation is shattered. It was the same in 96 when we tried to buy our way back with Sheron and Spencer, that didn't work either and we eventually went into administration thanks to Loftus Road plc going belly-up and never recovering in the following three years...

Makes no difference to me where we find ourselves ... Where ever it is ... It's our journey. I enjoy every match and won't even think about stuff that hasn't happened ... Why?

It hasn't happened and more importantly exactly what do you think you can do about it ?

I work at the moment for the biggest insurance company set of twats who feed off exactly this. This thread reminds why none of them cant even decide what drink to have at the machine each morning. They only do safe and then you have to listen to them telling the world they have just got a new iPhone as if it's a new son or daughter.

    There is more to life

    We still have the maths

    Three must fall

    Tense isn't it

We are not done, dusted & down yet, so why the fook are we spending time discussing such an thing.
C'om ................ talk about something happening now, our next game, the players, Harry's left nut, if that makes you happy but stay away from negative projections.
Even if this is our last season in the Pl for a while, lets' enjoy it for what it is.
    Rant over.

i get cernys point as i said about buying players to get us back up rather than keep us up. lets face it we are all really worried about going down but the fact is if tony hangs around i am sure harry will and if any one can get us back up he can. look at newcastle, west brom, sunderland and last year west ham. tyhey have all gone down and come back again. i dont think it will be the end of the world but it will be ****. if tony leaves then we are stuffed and i will have to go and support farnborough town
