This goes back to the many discussions in the past. Who is the most influential. The man that scores the winning goal or the man that makes a blinding save to keep us in the match. In truth all are just as influential. That is why it is a team game, the man that scores the winning goal gets the plaudits but the man that crafted the goal gets barely a mention. The team Know that one with out the other is no good. We are blessed with what we call impact players that come on and change a game. Oxo has been one, Chappers has been one, Connolly another Goberne. Yes we do have influential players there is no doubt about that, last season we missed Lallana when he wasn't playing, We also missed Spider and Barney. So in truth St George......... you are really asking more than one question. They should be separated for different reasons..........Lallana at the moment is no doubt Saints best player, he is when he plays often the most influential, but not all the time. Lambert too is a good player at this level he too on his day can be the most influential, again not all the time. Same with any player at some stage most if not all will be the most influential on the day. So I guess for me the most influential player is the man with the most assists. Not necessarily our best player, but the person that actually provides the pass to score the goal. Now that person I don't know, at a guess I would say Lambert. There are better statisticians out there that no doubt can correct that statement if it is wrong. Just as my thoughts on the matter will probably just increase the debate still further............
