Last night bumped into mate who was in the know with the Calimity and Copout appointments before it went public. He is well connected at the gate and there is no reason to think it was just spin. He told be that the late interest in the post is from a top manager and that there is a meeting planned for this weekend with SL to see if a deal can be put together. When he named him I was taken aback is the same way I was with Copout and still in two minds whether to name names as I could either look (more) stupid or well informed. but with all the speculation with names like Holloway banded about I will let the cat out of the bag. It was Martin O'Neal, only time will tell.

If your mate is as well informed as you say so76 it would be a plum appointment indeed. Scottish, massive experience and a no-nonsense kind of manager who would attract attention at all levels but I wonder if he would come here in all honesty.
However funnier things have happened on the way to Ashton Gate and I think most BCFC supporters would welcome that kind of manager. At least he could add a few thousand extra to our gates and possibly attract good new players to improve our lot in life.
Seeing as most of our supposed candidates are currently unemployed it seems strange that the process is taking longer that most of us expected, and if you read the blog by exiledrobin you will see that he eloquently expresses some key elements of hiring the right person.

No worries banksy I cant spell. Mis-spelt his name and calamity but would be nice to see a man of his ability at the helm, and where it could be true he is interested he would want reassurances about funds, expectations and the like so even if there is a meeting it may just end up that, but I'm an optimist. Quick change of subject, Morenio pokes official in eye, 2 game ban. Rooney petulant flick, hung drawn and quartered. FIFA = English hating c**nts.
It is just speculation but your sentiment echo's that expressed prior to the appointment of Copout, et al. I'm just trying to put myself in SL's expensive shoes. Stick or twist? Have another pop with a big investment or slip back to mediocrity. Due to the current economic climate its a difficult call.
I'll tell you what - if SL has been doing the same as the rest of the big boys and shorting the hell out of the market, he might well be top of the rich list next time it is published. He's got analysts coming out of his ears so if he hasn't at least doubled his money, something is very wrong...
