Some fringe players had a good workout
And we came away with a win,
So mission accomplished, without doubt
But for some, this Cup´s wearing thin

And it will start the warring factions
Debating as they do each year,
It does give an added distraction
And also brings more wear and tear

And naturally if a good Cup run
Should cost us our league place in May,
All of the good work will be undone
And not worth it in any way

But a squad like ours should be able
To progress for two or three rounds,
Without causing harm to the stable
And thereby bring in a few pounds

And although it may lack the glamour
Of the FA Cup, at the end,
Of the road awaits amid much clamour
A trip to Wembley with a friend

So until anything is proven
I´d say let´s give it a real go,
Depending on how threads are woven
Who we´ll meet, one just never knows. OTBC

we should view as an addition to the pre season friendlies

I would have liked to see the full team out bonding together getting to know each other, good that the others get a run out but probably in a minority of one thinking that Bassong Tettey Garriddo Turner etc would do with some game time together with the squad and Holty could do with some goals to get going

Enjoyed Lapps goal though!

Maybe we did just overdo the ´give the fringe players a chance´ thing a bit, but then folk like Surman, Hoolahan, Turner, Tierney and Morison are not exactly beginners. As always with these sort of games, the underdog bared its teeth and gave us a good fight.

Not forgetting Fox either, who sounded as if he had a good game. <ok>

I would like to hear from those of you who can get to the matches and see them live as to how well you think the team is playing. I got the impression from the Fulham game (watched via a website link) that the team was not interested in playing to their potential. In the QPR match there were good chances missed by players who were not strikers. The last time Holt scored was against Celtic and the last time Morison scored was? We seem to have an abundance of midfield players but lack quality with our strikers. I listened to the Scunthorpe (bottom of League 1 having lost their last 3 matches) match on Radio Norfolk and got the impression that we did just enough to win. I fear the Spurs match will turn out to be a defeat with the max. of one goal scored by us.
